Summary: I agree with some points from the previous reviewer. The ScanWizard software is clunky, though I never had it quit or fail to run. I have the most current version. Also, the scanner is slow to start (about 30 seconds) while it waits for the bulb to warm up. That's normal for a scanner that doesn't use LEDs like a few of the newer scanners do. Scan quality is quite high for documents and photos, and I used it for this purpose for several years.
Decent scanner, but slower than usual, buggy software

Summary: I bought this scanner because I have had two previous scanners and they were both Microtek, so I am familiar with them. The only thing I notice that is different between my last scanner (ScanMaker 4900) and this one is that scanning is much slower. It takes several minutes for the scan to even start. Overall, I think the scanner is a pretty good one, but the software that is necessary to run Microtek scanners (ScanWizard) is not very good.
