Summary: The unit has a flaw that is it will read in voice mmode 1 line at a time but if the sentence is longer you have to scan again and this reduces understanding. Especially for those who are vision impaired and are trying to understand the article.
Summary: I read all the reviews about this product carefully, and almost decided not to buy because of the reviews by those that complained of the functionality. I decided that I would try, and wow, I was impressed by the accuracy of this product. As with some of the reviews, in the beginning I had the same difficulties with the accuracy. Then I followed the instructions and some common sense and the accuracy increased rapidly.
Summary: I bought this pen scanner to scan numbers from my lottery tickets into a second chance drawing instead of having to type the 30 numbers required for each entry to enter the drawing. Unfortunately the lottery tickets are on a white and yellow background. The pen reads the numbers on the white background but it cannot read the numbers against the yellow background. This is a unique situation I know.
Summary: I read so many so-so (or horrible) reviews for scanner pens that I was hesitant to get one. But the Iris Pen works brilliantly. Write out of the box, within 20 minutes I was scanning from excerpts from books into Pages on my MacBook (OS X 10.5.8). This pen is fully Mac compatible. It took some time to figure out the best way to hold it (at what angle, where to put down and pick up the pen) but overall it is really easy to use.
Summary: I am a Medico working in a Government organisation. I bought this pen from Amazon on 12th of Jan 2011. Though the item reached me late, I am surprised by the ease of set up and the excellent result that it is giving afterwards. I am using 64 bit version of Windows 7 Home premium. It reached me in good packing. There was no hiccup in installation. Worked well .. It requires calibration initially and .. that's it!
