Summary: I don't think this is a great product. The pen isn't comfortable to write with, the ink doesn't work well and the software that came with the pen is extremely dated and difficult to use. I think this pen is very gimmicky and I threw it in a drawer and haven't used it since the day I got it.
Summary: I just tried using my IRISPen 6 once again, after over 2 years of letting it sit in a drawer due to it's utter failure to serve my needs. After wasting another 30 minutes with it, I felt the need to check back in with what reviewers were saying and add my comments. After this period of ownership and multiple attempts of trying to get this product to work as represented, I can say that while the IRISPen may work a little, it is best left to those who can tolerate playing...
Summary: I don't know what others who write good reviews for this product are doing but the pen is scanning nothing but gibberish from minute one I unpacked it yesterday. I tried every possible position, inclination, speed, pressing, different books and textures, etc. and etc: nothing works. I've got no idea what I am doing wrong and what others are doing right... I got this pen yesterday and am returning it today.
Summary: Pen won't install, drivers won't install. Light won't come on. Tried on two different macs. Followed all directions. No human being to speak to at iris support. No answer to request for tech help on internet.. So far, would say it's best to avoid this product, as I should have.
Summary: I had high hopes for iris pen but I found it to be extremely frustrating to use and gave up after some weeks. This is a great concept, but just does not deliver. I wish I didn't buy it. Don't waste your money this product isn't worth it. The software is buggy and crashed frequently. I'm young and computer savvy but was not able to figure out what was going wrong.
Summary: I cannot recommend the Iris Pen Scanner for two reasons. First, it just doesn't work like you would expect. It will not scan consistently on books or any printed material that cannot be made to lay perfectly flat. Mine will scan perfectly about 10% of the time, roughly right about 25%, and give me complete gobbledy-gook the rest of the time. The Pen Scanner is arguably the most frustrating piece of technology ever invented.
Summary: I just packaged up my Iris Pen Executive Scanner to return to sender. I played with this scanner for 3 days, and it was a waste of time. I could hand-type the data for one page faster and more accurately than this thing can scan. I got about 10% accuracy and had to hand-type the rest. I sent an email to support for help and received a "canned response" telling me to wait. I waited 3 days. Today I emailed them again and received another canned response.
Summary: In spite of what Microsoft's Windows 7's hardware compatibility website says, this pen does NOT work with Windows 7. Software installed fine but when attempting to Calibrate you receive the Debug window "Bulk Read Size Error!", followed by "Calibration Failed". This gibberish has no identifiable meaning. Intensive efforts to resolve the error have failed. Without being able to calibrate the software, attempted scans with the pen return garbage text.
Summary: When I called the service department, after the greeting message, I had to wait in the line for a long time before I could talk to someone who turned out to be not helpful at all. My problem is still not solved. I don't know what to do.
