Summary: I have a printer/scanner combo and being lazy wanted a sheet fed scanner for next years tax documents. I am retired and very computer challenged. Simple is best for me. Easily installed the program on my desktop computer running Windows 7 and it worked like a charm. Went to install it on my new laptop that runs Windows 8 and it was a complete disaster. Installed, uninstalled numerous times. Searched the internet for answers and contacted customer support.
Summary: can't get IRISCan to load on my new computer which does not have a CD drive - I've asked several times for help and all I get is a lengthy 20 step how to do it - that's fine if you're a computer wiz - very disappointed that no one called and walked me through steps or sought other ways to help me - I've got the product and it sits in the box -
Summary: I installed this scanner on 2 Computers--xp and windows 7--- I was never able to get a scan (out of about 100 scans) that was even close to the original, I mean garbled jibberish, no background color, small copies and Gigantic part copies, printing that was upside down and backwards, in no case was I able to get even a close copy of the original.
Summary: When the time to get a document scanner came about, I so liked the description about this scanner. What the description didn't mention was that it doesn't work with the Windows 8 OS. After reading the reviews after purchase, I was really kicking myself about this scanner.
Summary: It worked well for the first 50 scans or so. After that, it would leave lines/streaks across the scanned documents. It also would stop registering on my computer in the documents folder but it would still show the scanning progress like it was working fine... so I would end up realizing after about 50 papers scanned that none of them went through. The speed is slowing now as well.
Summary: Looking for a compact and easy-to-use scanner, I came across the IRISCan Express 3. The installation of the device went smoothly on a Windows 8 PC and recognized the hardware right away. I installed the provided software and scanned the first documents. Directly saved to Word, Excel, or PDF and ready for further processing. Also it is small and easy to carry between home and office...for the price you can't beat it!.
Summary: If you are running Windows 8.1 DO NOT BUY and I repeat DO NOT BUY. They have a work around posted on the Iris site which requires jumping thru fire. After doing that and got the drivers installed, the next issue I hit was scanner software would die each time I selected the scanner. Long story short I did not get this to work on 8.1 but Windows 7 works fine. So this does me no good remotely since I'm running 8.1 on my table (surface pro).
Summary: was hard to set up and get running got errors during scanning so I had to start over several times during scanning not exactly what I was looking for but it does scan what I need scanned and price was cheap enough for scanning
