Very disappointed.Too slow to convert negatives..didn't even get to my pics
21 April 2012
Summary: Thought this would be the answer to help me convert all my negatives and old photos onto a jumpdrive. This is NOT the answer! The software is poor and continually freezes up. I was using it on my older computer designated only for pictures and runs XP. Tried it on my laptop with Vista and then my new computer with 7 and still had the same poor results...it is slow between scans and continually FREEZES UP! I do not have the time to sit around waiting.
Summary: I read all the reviews that I could find on this item. It seemed to be a love it or hate it proposition. The price was right so I took the plunge. I have slides that date back to 1963 and are from all over the world. It took me about 5 days off and on to get them all into the computer. I would like there to be more control on the brightness and the alert that the queue is full should occur before you try to scan a slide. Overall I am quite satisfied with the results.
Summary: This product does not scan in the original colors and slides are not clear and in focus Ion Audio USB Picture, Slide, and Film Scanner (PICS2PC) I used this scanner for 200 slides and the next time I went to scan , it would not work. I have tried EVERYTHING but it seems the scanner Unit is not operating. What a waste of money. I would invest in a different scanner . I wish I knew this before I bought this item.
Summary: I Have had several hundred slides tucked away in the garage. Untouched for 40 years Set up the unit Installed software and started scanning. Many slides of people were so bright that the faces were obscured. First disappointment. No fear Tried Nero Photosnap Viewer, Thumbs Plus, Paint, and Adobe Photoshop Veiwer. Was still not a happy camper. I soon realized that the original slide exposure was the culprit. Then it hit me why not try the Blaze software out.
Summary: The good news is that the product is significantly faster than a flat bed scanner. The bad news is that the picture quality is poor to mediocre. Images lack sharpness and colors are faded or wrong. Dark details are lost. The product was very easy to set up and use although some of the menus concerning where to store files were confusing. It would be a great product if the images were sharp and correct. I have given up trying to use it.
Summary: I purchased the ION PICS2PC scanner to primarily scan slides. It is a dismal failure for several reasons. The holders for slides and negatives are hard to open and clumsy. It scans slides, but they are overly bright with a bright spot in the center of the slide. I have been on line with the ION customer support for over an hour and am giving up. If you want to scan photos, it work OK for that.
Summary: I tried other slide scanners before purchasing the Ion PICS2PC and returned them all for one reason or another, especially poor software performance. This is the best scanner I have tried and I am keeping it. I already converted 50 slides the first day and the results are satisfactory. I am, however, disappointed in one thing: the slide tray, which accepts 3 slides, has a lock which is hard to open.
