Summary: Item worked very well for 35mm negatives but the tray required that they be cut in strips to fit. I modified the tray on both ends and removed the studs that engaged the film so that I could slide the film through the tray in whole rolls rather than cutting them. Works great.
Summary: I got to recover old slides and negatives that the prints had long since been lost. I was able to scan material from the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Some old negatives (45 years old) were stuck together and had to be peeled apart yet I was able to scan them without jamming the equipment. It worked equally well with color and black and white films. Great unit that did just what I wanted.
Summary: I bought this scanner for the express purpose of scanning old negative film. I realized very quickly that the slide holders would not accommodate my slides. Oh, it did a fine job of scanning a section of the film. But, the dimensions of my film were larger than the scan area. I was losing either the top or bottom part of the picture. I'm now looking for a flatbed scanner with a Transparent Materials Adapter built in.
Summary: It was broken from the start. The SD card did fit in the slot correctly. Called the manufacturer help desk and they said return it to them. But that meant paying for the shipping on my own and then waiting a few weeks until that one was fixed or a new one sent. I took it back to Best Buy for a refund.
Summary: The scanner was bought to copy a B&W negative collection, and a large collection of colour slides. It proved highly successful and a great improvement on the ion slides to PC gadget. I would recommend this scanner to anyone. It is fast and with a little practice easy to use.
