Summary: I had never had one of these before and in the circumstances I was in I needed one that I could carry with me. I was really surprised how well this worked. The scanned items were clear and legitable. It was lightweight and easy to figure out how to use. When you obviously can't haul around your printer/scanner this does an excellent job. Well worth the money.
Summary: I especially like the portability. Also the capability to scan large documents and knit them together with other graphics software. It uses standard size batteries and that is always a plus. Does not have to be plugged into the computer to scan. Creates a jpg file. Ocr can be run on the jpg file to make it into a text file.
Summary: This scanner is easy to use and produces great jpeg files. At one point my scanner took a tumble, and the glass for the scanner got cracked; even with the crack, it still works as well as it did before. The battery life on this product is not ideal, but I do use product heavily. The only thing I would improve upon this product is having the option of creating a pdf file. All in all, I am glad I purchased this.
Summary: I used this to try to scan 4 books and it was very inaccurate. Like some of the other reviewers posted, it takes a while to get the hang of using this scanner. You have to be consistent in the speed with which you drag the device over the pages otherwise you'll end up with distorted text that is then made difficult for the OCR software to recognize.
Summary: purchased my ion copy cat scanner a little over a year ago for only $60. used it very infrequently until recently. scans were good. then all of sudden it only displays USB - will not scan at all. contacted customer support and they stated that there was indeed something wrong with it and was then informed that it is under warranty for only 90 days. basically I spent $60 on a 1GB micro SD card...
Summary: Use this as a black and white emergency quickie, too lazy to go up stairs to your other scanner device only. Rough scans. Ez to use, but if you are in the field you better scan 3 times and hope for a decent one. Archive quality only. Example... archive a W2 or insurance document would be a NO. Trust it to scan and archive a receipt...maybe. Scans are jpeg, you can use Evernote for free to organize and tag..free download.
