Summary: I am preferable to HP scanners/printers, and overall this scanner works well. They tray does come off a little more often than I'd like, and you have to make sure the paper is fed just right or else it will scan from the flatbed.
Summary: I bought the scanner because I have a big stack of web pages from paying bills online. I sorted the papers but haven't yet scanned them all. I have scanned a few. The scanner came without a CD or any software but I was able to download it from HP. I run Windows 7 on the machine it is connected to.

Summary: There are some scathing reviews here - I just know that it works for scanning. A great scanner , always reliable, the software is intuitive and easy to use. I have never had an issue with this product, HP is not known for great tech support as a company, but software and help can be readily found...
Excerpt: The HP ScanJet is basically a scanner. I bought it at $499.99. With taxes, the cost is just over 500 bucks. This scanner has two scanning options. There is the flatbed and the sheetfed scanning options. I got this partly because of some comments I’ve heard about this scanner. …
Summary: As a previous reviewer told you and this may seem unbelievable that a company like HP would do this, the scanners driver just drops off after a period of use. I would say that if you don't use it much it could last for years but then what's the point of having something you don't use.
Excerpt: HP Scanner was NOT doubled-boxed. Scanner Feed Ramp came loose from packing tape and knocked around scanner feed area causing marring, scratching and nick damage. Despite this rough handling, unit seems to work well. Not a good impression on me.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Excellent Software, Great Interface
Excerpt: My goal was to digitize all my home office records (bank statements, insurance policies, charge card receipts, etc). After owning this scanner for ten days, I have five file drawers of paper ready for the shredder.
Pros: Accurate Color, Easy To Set Up, Excellent Paper Handling, Good Resolution
Summary: Our office bought this scanner back in Spring of 2008, and we have scanned over 150,000 documents on it, and now, five years later, it's getting tired. However, we are going to purchase the exact same make and model to replace it, and it will probably last another 5 years and 150,000 documents.
