Summary: I am preferable to HP scanners/printers, and overall this scanner works well. They tray does come off a little more often than I'd like, and you have to make sure the paper is fed just right or else it will scan from the flatbed. I also affixed a piece of paper to the top of the flatbed so you don't get the image of the top when scanning documents that aren't a full page.
Summary: I bought the scanner because I have a big stack of web pages from paying bills online. I sorted the papers but haven't yet scanned them all. I have scanned a few. The scanner came without a CD or any software but I was able to download it from HP. I run Windows 7 on the machine it is connected to. I have been able to scan a few things, both in the glass and through the feedfer. In the feeder I can't give it a stack of papers and wait for it to go through them.
Excerpt: The HP ScanJet is basically a scanner. I bought it at $499.99. With taxes, the cost is just over 500 bucks. This scanner has two scanning options. There is the flatbed and the sheetfed scanning options. I got this partly because of some comments I’ve heard about this scanner.
Excerpt: HP Scanner was NOT doubled-boxed. Scanner Feed Ramp came loose from packing tape and knocked around scanner feed area causing marring, scratching and nick damage. Despite this rough handling, unit seems to work well. Not a good impression on me.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Excellent Software, Great Interface
Excerpt: My goal was to digitize all my home office records (bank statements, insurance policies, charge card receipts, etc). After owning this scanner for ten days, I have five file drawers of paper ready for the shredder. Set up would have gone smoothly but the USB 2.0 cable was defective; finally discovered that myself and then started scanning; paper handling is remarkable including two-sided scanning. It will handle a stack of 50 pages without a hiccup.
Pros: Accurate Color, Easy To Set Up, Excellent Paper Handling, Good Resolution
Summary: At first I was having difficulty getting the scanner to read documents from the automatic sheet feeder. However, after picking the correct driver software interface, the scanner works like a charm. It is still to early to determine if this scanner will serve my every need. But, at this point in time I believe it was a wise investment and the footprint it takes up on my desk is perfect.
Summary: I am dissapointed in the document feeder. When I insert a document into the machine it most often slides into an opening below the document feeder slot. Then I have to open it up to correct. Very aggrivating!!!!
