Excerpt: The HP ScanJet is basically a scanner . I bought it at $499.99. With taxes, the cost is just over 500 bucks. This scanner has two scanning options. There is the flatbed and the sheetfed scanning options. I got this partly because of some comments I’ve heard about this scanner . Some details about this scanner are that the resolution is at 2400 DPI (dots per inch), USB 2.0 connection, and the maximum scan size is 8.5″ by 14″.
Excerpt: My goal was to digitize all my home office records (bank statements, insurance policies, charge card receipts, etc). After owning this scanner for ten days, I have five file drawers of paper ready for the shredder. Set up would have gone smoothly but the USB 2.0 cable was defective; finally discovered that myself and then started scanning; paper handling is remarkable including two-sided scanning. It will handle a stack of 50 pages without a hiccup.
Pros: Accurate Color, Easy To Set Up, Excellent Paper Handling, Good Resolution
Summary: Our office bought this scanner back in Spring of 2008, and we have scanned over 150,000 documents on it, and now, five years later, it's getting tired. However, we are going to purchase the exact same make and model to replace it, and it will probably last another 5 years and 150,000 documents. We are a law office, and are constantly using it. It's not as fast as I would like, but the durability outweighs the speed.
Cons: Out of the box "Hardware error" This is the second scanner I had to eat in 2 weeks because there is a non-refund policy on this one. And no, it wasn't an open box special, just a regular discounted item. First was a Fujitsu that wasn't compatible with my software, then this one is dead.
Summary: Do NOT buy this HP Scanjet N6310!!! The driver only works for about a year, then it will disappear without any trace. Once your scanner is out of warranty, talking to Hp Tech Support is such a nightmare!!! Their engineers only created drivers that only last for a year. The so-called Hp Tech Support employees are experienced salesmen that will make you frustrated & make you pay additional service fees just to install drivers posted on Hp website.
Summary: At first I was having difficulty getting the scanner to read documents from the automatic sheet feeder. However, after picking the correct driver software interface, the scanner works like a charm. It is still to early to determine if this scanner will serve my every need. But, at this point in time I believe it was a wise investment and the footprint it takes up on my desk is perfect.
Summary: I am dissapointed in the document feeder. When I insert a document into the machine it most often slides into an opening below the document feeder slot. Then I have to open it up to correct. Very aggrivating!!!!
