Summary: This scanner is good but if you want to e-mail it to yourself. You'll have to pay 20$ each year because the scanner puts your pictures in a pdf file. But overall it catches all the details on the picture.
contrary to 'jim's' statement - Vista drivers have ALWAYS' been available.

Summary: this scanner isn't that fast, and is 'top' heavy w/ software, but you want high resolution; and customizable output possibilities, this isn't a bad choice. As to the mis-informed fellow 'Jim' - who states there are no Vista drivers, please find them here: web-link not allowed - Google hp and select...
Summary: This is the second G4010 I purchased. Like everything else it has its good points and its bad points. The slide adapter is a little cumbersome to use, the user interface could use some work, especially the preview screen when you're doing slides. But, its scans are pretty darn good!
Summary: This scanner replaced my HP Vertical scanner, which I loved but was not compatible with Windows 7. This scanner was easy to setup and worked fine right out of the box but it is very noisey. I was not used to this so it is a little strange.
Summary: Despite the enclosure with the scanner saying to go to the HP website for Windows 7 drivers, the drivers didn't yet exist for this particular scanner. The technician at HP (via email) said to install the Vista drivers that came with the scanner. This does work but not all functions work properly.
Summary: At first, I had to log in with admin privileges to install the h/w and s/w. Then when I logged out and into my non-admin account the s/w would not run. I had to change the properties to Run As Administrator; kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?
Summary: Well, I must say the product arrived in a timely fashion and in excellent condition. Very easy set up and operation as well as options from PDF,general scanning and basic color correction. Not as noisy as some might say and not super quiet. Fast scan, brillant color as well.
