Summary: Get used to seeing that message if you waste your money on this scanner. Just ended an hour long phone call with HP customer support trying to install the software on windows XP. They know about the problem.

Summary: When I bought this scanner the picture showed a paper handler on top of the scanner. I purchased this item based upon the associated photo that shows a paper handler on top of the HP4010. This photo does not represent the item you will be purchasing from them.
Summary: Scanner functionality is great. Software included with the scanner does not work with Windows Vista. You can download a Vista version from HP and get the scanner to work, but no matter how many times you install, re-install, search for patches, etc., it is cumbersome and gives a lot of errors.
Summary: HP does it again. Good hardware. The worst software and support I have ever seen. This scanner is as stable as Charlie Manson on crack. It would work one day, then not even found by it's own software a week later. I would have to use the windows scanning software or my OCR just to scan.
Summary: Comments about HP Scanjet G4010 Photo Flatbed Scanner: Cumbersome setup. Fills the registry with endless entries. Too many steps to perform a scan. After a short period it started to pop up messages claiming to install software.
Summary: Bought this G4010 on Dec 28 2009, got it on 04 Jan 2010, tried to install it and there are no Win7 drivers. HP unwilling to say when they will be released. Contacted "tech support" no help, have written email am waiting for the answer. If it is not resolved within 10-days it is going back to Amazon
Incompatible features with Windows 7; Poor Support

Summary: Purchased the scanner in November 2009 and it did not work with Windows 7. They have subsequently released a new driver but many features still do not work with Windows 7. Tech support was totally not helpful...they had no idea what to do and told me to "wait until a new driver came out...
Summary: Newegg authorized my return of the first scanner & sent me a new one. I have no problem with Newegg, but am considering changing scanners if we can't get this new problem resolved.
Pros: Very good for slides & pictures, when the software sees the scanner.
Cons: Worked for a while, but then I was unable to open HP Solutions; it did not see my scanner. Called a tech in, & he was more frustrated than I. Tried many options available to him with no luck; left after 2.5 hrs.; he said he'll contact HP & try to get help but said he'd have to hound HP to get res...
