Summary: Comments about HP Scanjet G4010 Photo Flatbed Scanner: Cumbersome setup. Fills the registry with endless entries. Too many steps to perform a scan. After a short period it started to pop up messages claiming to install software. Clicking ok after about 30 clicks you will be able to perform a single scan. Buttons went out of function after less than a year. It doesn't allow continuous scan. After each scan you'll need to call a new scan menu manually.
Summary: I used this scanner on a Mac G5 with Leopard. It all started well and the scanner actually produced pretty good results. But then, after three days of moderate use, it died. The scanner did turn on, but the cover buttons were not working and the system didn't recognize it. Tried different cables, rebooting, cleaning preferences, etc. Nothing. Called support and they said it was a hardware malfunction. Wouldn't recommend it.
