Summary: I was registering all my HP devices when I discover some surprising information. I had brought a new HP scanjet 8300 in June 2009. The HP site I was registering the devices indicated the warranty for the scanner had expired in November 2008, 6 months before I bought it.
Summary: HP just recently came out with driver version 13.0 for Windows 7 and it is lacking. There is only one descreen feature in the driver thus it will not let you descreen at 145 lpi for artwork or old postcards, etc.
Summary: This one got sent back. I'm going to try a Canon 8800F next.
Pros: Scans legal size, quality construction, USB interface.
