Summary: I was registering all my HP devices when I discover some surprising information. I had brought a new HP scanjet 8300 in June 2009. The HP site I was registering the devices indicated the warranty for the scanner had expired in November 2008, 6 months before I bought it.

Summary: When I upgraded to Win 8.1 from Win 8.0 all of my scanners stopped working except for my HP8300. My HP8300 was not equipped with the ADF that I really needed and the HP8390 ADF attachment that I needed was a discontinued product.
Summary: These other reviews have absolutely no merit so please ignore them. I've had this scanner for 6 years and it's absolutely fantastic. I've never had any problems of any sort. It handles high resolution like a champ and it works great on slides and the like. HIGHLY recommended.
Summary: I've had this scanner now for two years and it is so feature rich and creates great images. Its not for those not so technically proficient. But you can do so much with this scanner and the software that comes with it.
Summary: Yes it is easy to use. However, HP used to be a good company, but now they have joined the ranks of the fallen and have abysmally stupid policies. I bought this scanner three years ago, it has all the features I wanted, especially the ability to handle legal size scans.
Summary: I purchased the HP 8300 direct from HP.com (foolish me). First the Windows software included was for Windows XP/Vista. Both my HP desktop and HP laptop have Windows 7. I followed the instructions to go to the HP website and download the software and drivers for Windows 7 which I did.
Summary: I received my scanner this morning and I found the plug and play to by quite good and fairly simple. I got the drivers for Windows 7 64-bit online from HP. No trouble with the software, although yes it could be a little more intuitive.
Summary: We purchased this scanner for the purpose of scanning our slides and negatives. When we tried to scan, we kept getting an error message that stated the TMA adapter was not installed. I tried to solve the issue by using the online chat with HP.
