Summary: I owned a different Scanjet model and decided it was time to upgrade to this model, since the ADF can handle more pages per minute. It has been a complete disaster. Some days I am actually able to scan a few hundred pages before I run into problems, sometimes the problem is with the very first piece of paper. The ADF constantly jams, usually on the very first piece of paper in the pile. I can sometimes give the sheet a boost through the feeder and get it to start.
Summary: Thought I had a lemon, and then I had our company IT person take a look at it make changes to the settings (things I didn't have a clue about, it is more to setting it up than I know) but when he was done I have perfect scans that show a signature clear and the typing. Love it because it scans so many pages and I have a lot of large documents daily.
Summary: I purchased the product based upon the reputation of HP. I understood that the scanner was a reconditioned scanner and that it was of an older design where now scanners are part of multifunction machines, scanners, printers and fax machines. One of the main reasons for purchasing this model was that the software and drivers were to be included on a c/d disk. The disk was not included in the box. I have had to down load the drivers from the internet.
Summary: Scanner arrived without setup instruction, hard copy manual and was DOA. The ADF appeared to draw in a document, but once it was delivered to the tray an error notice of a jamb was delivered. We attempted to flatbed scan a document and the scanner locked up 1/2 inch into the scan. Executed all HP trouble shooting methods to no avail. Contacted HP and they advise us to return it. Not sure if my undying loyalty to HP is smart any longer.
Summary: This thing is GREAT! Fast and reliable. LOVE the double-sided scanning! Only a little trouble installing drivers- not sure which one goes first, but got them all running now and it works great.
Summary: When I first brought this scanner I had a problem getting it initialize at first as well but with the newest set of HP drivers and software it works perfectly. I did not experence any issues with the length of the USB cable. Mine is on a 16ft cable right now.
Pros: Built like a tank. Autofeeder will draw just about everything accurately. Duplex Scanning works great execpt in certain situations. (See Below) Huge legal sized flatbed with really high resolution. Quick scan buttons easy to setup and works great with PaperPort.
Cons: The duplex reversing system jams if you try to duplex scan anything that has been tri-folded. Although this is a little of a hastle, it is easy to just scan each set of sides separtely in the same job and reassemble in ParerPort or the free HP scanning utility.
