Summary: Can't expect too much from high level technology from over 10 years ago. I needed a multipage scanner though for court documents and this worked in a pinch. I did not realize that most fairly cheap printers come with a MP scanner as well, if I had I probably would have paid the extra 20 bucks and went over to Best Buy and picked one up. For some reason people that I have emailed PDF's made from this scanner can't print them from their computers.
Summary: As far price for quality goes, it is hard to beat this scanner. It works quickly and the resolution is great. It may not come with any fancy software to change the scans, but I found it was not needed - Paint works well.
Does b&w and color and does work for you. Great value for the money.

Summary: I rate this a 5 because it does a great job of scanning. I can load a pile of items, put in the data I want it filed under and let it rip. It will label the FILES and the FOLDER and automatically files the files in the folder. I paid very little for it as it was a refurb but it works great and is much better than the EPSON scanner for massive scanning. The EPSON does more tricks and is great for one on one scanning but for WORK this is much more useful.
Buy it. Compatible with Windows 7 x64. As good as any current flatbed.

Summary: Scanner works wonderfully. Everything works as it should on Windows 7 x64 (run Vista driver installer in Vista compatibility mode). Produces wonderful quality scans. The ADF is light years beyond the HP all-in-one that I use as a printer. Duplex, fast, and quality! Scans via WIA into Photoshop. The copy to printer function button works perfectly. Overall, a high quality product.
Hp Scanjet 8250 - excellent - but lacks support for new OS
11 October 2012
Summary: The HP Scanjet 8250 is a great scanner. It can scan legal size documents and store them in several formats. I purchased the scanner for the auto document feeder since it allows me to scan a lot of material in a relatively short time and store it on my harddrive. For personal use it is hard to beat for the price. I dislike the fact that HP does not provide quality updated drivers and consequently making the scanner function with windows 7 is a labor of love.
It's everything we wanted in a legal scanner. Great product!!

Summary: It's hard to find a legal scanner, especially if you don't want to pay for a printer/fax as part of it. Yes, this is used. Works just fine for everything we've needed it for. We just got back from a family history research trip and we took it along to run from a laptop. Tossed it in the car and tried not to pile the tent on top of it. It traveled just fine, and worked where and whenever we set it up. No drama, no fuss.
good value for the money but not the fastest two side scanning product
10 October 2011
Summary: Good producto. Good speed for the one side scanning option. slow for the two side option. I spected an automatic selection option for the number of sides to scan. Good product considering the price.
Summary: This is a review of the VENDOR, not the scanner. I ordered HP ScanJet 8250 Document Scanner through Amazon; vendor is TLMonitors. Item was advertised as "Very little use, still in original box." Vendor asserted on their invoice that "drivers on a disc" were included; in fact, they were not included. Vendor was resistant to my returning it. Vendor said the driver could be downloaded from the internet.
