Pros: Sleek and easy to install. Great quality for the price. I like the Image software that comes with it, there are lots of tools available for use after the scan. (way cheaper than Photoshop) Turns out that I don't really need the high resolution like I thought, but it's nice to have anyway. ;-)
Cons: Probably need some previous scanner expertise to get good scans/image quality. This is not a "scanner for dummies". Auto cropping doesn't work very well, so you have to check the cropping before you scan the images. The automated buttons on the top don't seem very useful since so much tweaking is...
Summary: Frankly, the noise is a minor issue compared to all the plusses. I can use most scans with little or no retouching in Photoshop. That's a huge timesaver for me. And at less than $xxx, it's definitely worth the price. Best bang-for-the-buck I've found.
Pros: FAST - Often out-scans my USB-2 connection. COLOR - brilliant! I bought this scanner for professional scanning and it delivers. CONTROLLABLE DRIVER - I **loath** Windows XP's standard scanning interface. It dumbs all scanners down to the lowest common denominator. HP's scanning interface gives me...
Cons: It's a noisy honker - especially at low resolutions.
Summary: I just bought this scanner today to replace a 5 year old SUPER great HP6300C scanner that broke. I had purchased an Epson 4490 and what a P.O.S. that was. It never did work...made a terrible racheting sound on my first scan and Best Buys told me it was defective.
Summary: The product was advertised as new and it is. Other than a slight cosmetic dent in the cover which is hardly noticible, this machine is what we were looking for. Old odd sized negatives come out as good as original prints. Delivered as promised. We couldn't be more satisfied.
