  • Summary: Although a used item, it worked perfectly. I scanned all my slides quickly and now use the unit as my regular scanner.

HP Scanjet 4890 is a terrific value

A. Sarno, Amazon
20 February 2007
  • Summary: I have over 1200 slides to scan, plus negatives. I needed an inexpensive solution that would scan the most frames per scan. The 4890 will scan 16 35mm slides at one time, much better than the 5 or 12 offered by other scanners. It can handle 30 negatives per scan. The HP software installs easily. The default setting make nice scans; settings are easy to change.

Excellent scanner, but not for latest Mac OS X versions

Dewitt Whittington "Kitplane Builder", Amazon
19 May 2006
  • Summary: I own this scanner. It is a good one. But it will not work with the lasted Mac operating system, OS X 10.9 and maybe OS X 10.8. The latest OS I think it will run with is Mountain Lion.

The word recognition software is a dream!

Greenmanwest, Amazon
19 May 2006
  • Summary: I bought this scanner primarily for use in digitizing artwork- I paint and draw a lot and also self-publish books, postcards, and posters. Although this scanner works well for scanning medium scale artwork at high resolutions, with excellent color capture, and crisp detail, the real surprise came when I decided to scan some old papers I'd written in college.

Amatori e non solo

gabbiano79, Ciao
4 June 2006
