Summary: I purchased the scanner because the price was so low and because I wanted a scanner. I should have known better. I should have checked first. But I found that the scanner was so old that it was not compatible with my computer AND HP no longer has any software or drivers for it. So it took a long time to get it ... and after I had it, I had a large paper weight!
Summary: This is a nice scanner so far as it goes, but it is very old and does NOT work with newer operating systems such as Windows Vista or Windows 7. HP stopped supporting this product with updated drivers a few years ago and it won't work with a newer computer. I just purchased this scanner for home and we are still running Windows Vista, and it DOESN'T WORK! So unless you are running a Windows Operating system that is at least 10 years old, it probably won't work!
Summary: I was very please with the process for purchasing this scanner. Forms were easy to fill out and I was kept informed of the progress of my order. This was a used scanner that was compatible with my os and scanner program. Bravo to all.
Excerpt: As with many products made by key brands, top quality is to be expected. Fortunately with this Scanner, that often-untrue statement is true. The ScanJet 4100C is a very nice scanner, that performs well. First off: the installation. This was very simple and user friendly. You put the CD in, and ran the set-up, which did the rest. Once the scanner was installed, HP’s own software is very good and provides fast and high quality results.
Pros: Good software, high quailty image, fast scanning time
Excerpt: I have been using this flat-bed scanner for about 18 months with no complaints. It was my first experience of a USB connection, and installation went like a dream. It is a compact design, unlike some of the really cheap ones, although it would be difficult to get any smaller than the latest Canon Canoscan range without your A4 sheet sticking out the sides!
Pros: Easy to connect . Easy to use . Can even be a FAX with the right set - up
Excerpt: Design: is sustained in style HP: smooth lines pleasing an eye, absence of sharp angles. The buttons of control(management) are made in the form of the ellipses. This model favourably is distinguished from others by(with) small dimension and silent work. It is very important for the domestic scanner. Quality of the map. Maximum permission of 600*600 dots per inch (interpolational 1200*1200). Well accepts halftones. Depth of colour: 68,7 billions of colours.
