Summary: It's an older model, so it's a little bigger and bulkier than the newer ones, and it has a separate power cord that I had to find a place to plug in, but it works flawlessly on my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux computer, which is the reason I bought it. And the price is right!
Summary: I bought this model of scanner new some years ago and have really liked it. So when I decided to buy one as a Christmas present for a relative, I decided on a used version of exactly the same model. Very satisfied with it.

Excerpt: Agggghhhhh!!! A ufo's landed on my computer!!! oh no, it's just my new HP scanner. Well if you havent guessed from that the scanner isn't one of those traditional looking pieces of cream computer add-ons. It has this funky shape with a semi-transparent lid on it.
Pros: Cheap, Fantastic picture quality and easy to use
Excerpt: The `double edged Sword` scanner I like to call this. Scanning quality is second to none on this budget Scanner. It cuts the mustard as far as picture quality and resolution is concerned. When it does get let down is in its design, size and looks.
Excerpt: The first thing you notice about the ScanJet 3400C is it's looks. It's certainly not the smallest scanner on the market! But it is pleasing to look at. The main benefit of this scanner has to be its connectivity. There are connections for both USB and parallel AND both cables.

Cons: Strange WYSIWYG web - editor, advanced functions sometimes hard to find
