A very good all round scanner

Geoff L, Amazon
16 July 2009
  • Summary: I have read some of the negative reviews, but I disagree with many of them. We've been using this scanner and several similar models in our offices for more than 2 years and think it does a very good all round job. It's hard to get a scanner that does all of the things this one does.

A Good Budget SOHO Scanner if you don't use the OEM Software

R. D. Welch, Amazon
16 July 2009
  • Summary: Overview: I've been using the 5590 through a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine for over two years (probably closer to three) without any major incidents. The 5590 is a good scanner, but the included software definitely leaves things to be desired.

Underrated Scanner

M. Kozar, Amazon
16 July 2009
  • Summary: Had to chime in on this one. We got the scanner about four months ago to replace a discount-bin flatbed Canon. It's true that the thing occasionally locks up on me and requires a cord-pull. (Anybody else miss 'off' switches?

No Major Problems

Dagma, Amazon
15 July 2009
  • Summary: I use this scanner at work. I scanned over 3,000 documents and rarely had an issue. Normally if I had a problem it was because the document became jammed due to bent corners, etc. I'm seriously thinking about buying one for home. PageMaker came with the scanner, and I love that software.

Works pretty well as a SOHO non-production scanner

BikeMeister, Amazon
15 July 2009
  • Summary: This scanner works really well for small jobs. I've found the mechanics to be fine and the driver to be fine for small jobs. Good feeder, good scans. It's not a production scanner, which nobody should ever buy it for anyway because of its slow scanning speed.

Scanner

VBS, Amazon
15 July 2009
  • Summary: This is the 3rd that I have owned. I have one for my home office and one for my business office. The 3rd replaced my work one as after many years, it finally gave out. The replacement one was faulty - HP and Amazon were great in simply replacing it with another and had it shipped out before I even...

Good but there are some drawbacks.

Haydon J. Ryan, Amazon
15 July 2009
  • Summary: I guess i'm a power user - i have a home network a pc and a mac. The hardware of this scanner is excellent. I had no problems whatsoever with the unit. I did have a lot of problems with the software setup. The actual HP software is a peice of crap in my opinion.

Great Scanner

Arnold R., Amazon
15 July 2009
  • Summary: I was a little concerned about buying this after reading some of the negative reviews but I'm happy to say it works quite well. Were using this at home to scan real estate docs & it handles the mix of letter & legal size pages just fine with no jamming (thus far anyway).

Works Great

Christopher J. Schreck, Amazon
15 July 2009
  • Summary: I saw some bad reviews for this product but I have had no problems with it. It works great and was easy to set up. It is a little noisy, but for the price it was definitly worth it.
