Summary: I was fairly satisfied with my scanner until I had to obtain a new computer, switching from Windows XP to Windows 7. The scanner's drivers will not work with Windows 7. I have tried to download new drivers but, for some reason, Fujitsu does not provide the full set of drivers on its websites, only a hodgepodge of updates. I have been trying, for 3 weeks now to contact someone at Fujitsi about this issue without any response.
Summary: Comments about Fujitsu S510M: Scanner grabs more than one page at a time. Non-refurbs don't seem to have this problem. Poor service hours from Fujitsu. I haven't had the time at work to break away to call them for service/repair.
Pros: Easy Setup, Excellent Software, Good Resolution, Widely Compatible, Works on Network
Summary: I have been using the ScanSnap S510 for well over a year at a low pace; 40 to 50 pages a day. After 9 month, the feeder started to jam. I called the support center and they told me to clean the small rolls. It seemed strange to me as I don't use the scanner extensively. My HP printers are well over three years and I never had any problems with the feeder. After cleaning the scanner, I still had the problem and the only solution is to replace the parts.
Summary: I have spent hours on the telephone with Fujitsu support trying to get the scanner to initialize properly and consistently. They tell me that certain HP chip sets have compatibility issues that cause the scanner to randomly not work and that there is nothing they can do. The bottom line is that I cannot rely on the scanner to work when I need it. On the days it works, I love it. The rest of the time not so much.
Summary: I purchased this product over a month ago and I love that it doesn't take up too much space. It is very small and scans pages pretty quickly. The major issue I'm having is that the pages tend to jam too often. It doesn't matter if the paper being inserted and scanned is old or new, previously stapled or whatever. There are times when the scanner works really well and I do not have issues with the feeder.
Summary: I've had this unit for two weeks and use it on a daily basis as I try to reduce files accumulate over the last 15 years. I usually do quite a bit less than planned because it is too frustrating. [...]. It does not scan odd sized (or even legal sized) documents without special handling. Forget about scanning multiple pages of odd sized documents. I've compensated by reducing the legal sized documents on my copier and then scanning the copies, but what a bunch of humbug.
