Summary: This is wonderfully suited for all printed material. Scans are sharp and crisp. Straight lines are not perfectly reproduced, however. Color scans are just a bit faded. But darkness level can be adjusted for black and white scans.
Summary: I have purchased two of these scanners. The one on my office desk sees almost daily use; the one at home is used less frequently. Between them, I've scanned well over 25000 sheets. What I like: * Very compact. When the input and output trays are folded in, the scanner uses only 6"x11" of desk space - smaller than a sheet of paper. * Well built. Unlike inexpensive consumer-level scanners, the ScanSnap has a substantial amount of mass.
Summary: Only complaint is it jams frequently depending on how lovingly one feeds the papers. Otherwise quick and reliable. We purchased the Rack2 software and haven't needed it. I'd skip it. We use it daily for scanning routing and payment slips at work.
Summary: Very easy to install and operate. The "auto" features are really powerful, compared with other brands that I've tried. It allows PDF files to be converted into "searchable" after scanning, which significantly increases the speed of scanning. The only thing that I am not satisfied with is, that the quality of color scanning is not so good, especially for the dark colors - you can always find vertical lines on the scanned pictures even you set the quality to "Excellent.
Summary: Seldom does an item do what is sez it will but from the moment I installed the software and plugged it in, I was impressed. Some software updates will not download but it has not seemed to be a major drawback.
Summary: Been using the Scansnap S510 extensively (2-3 hours per day) since I bought it. Very, very pleased with it for general document scanning. Things I like: -- small size, takes up very little room on the desk -- fast compared to an All-in-one solution -- easy to set up and get working (but, see below) -- comes with Adobe 8.0 Regular Things I don't like: -- Installation is easy but required 3 different discs depending on what functions you want to use.
