Summary: nice product. After install a drive from the included cd, it's just simply plug n play. We need to get used to of the page orientation that flipped on the 1st 2. It also scanned front and back on a single thread. That also needs to get accustom with. Small and easy to take around. It is a little pricey though.
Summary: So, I researched the h*@# out of these and based on reviews everywhere there is no clear choice. Overall, you have to zero in on what you need a scanner for. We wanted to go paperless at home and this turned out to be a pretty good option. Our priorities were quick, multipage scanning, duplex scanning, easy scanning and intuitive software. We were not scanning a ton of photos, mostly documents. Set up took 15 minutes or so and scanning is really good.
Flexible scanner w/ good image quality and OCR. Software could be better.

Summary: I have the ScanSnap S1300i hooked up to a MacBook Pro 15 from 2009. I use this product for two reasons: document scanner and receipt scanner. The product works better than I expected but I have a couple issues about the software/hardware interactions. The first thing is that the scanner doesn't work unless you have the ScanSnap software running on your machine.
Pros: I purchased this scanner after having looked at various scanners. I am a commuting grad student and about half of my professors have not digitized their handouts. This helps me to keep everything on my laptop. I have a light to moderate number of papers that are scanned on a daily basis.
Cons: -The software included is easy to use for basic tasks, but for more complex tasks its interface feels restrictive.
Summary: I've been using high-end Fujitsu scanners since the early 1990's, most recently a several year old 11" x 17" fi-5530C2- I've scanned or overseen scanning of well over a quarter million pages - the pro Fujitsu scanners are really reliable and if you want to see a model of great driver maintenance, go take a look at Fujitsu's web site to see how they still support 15+ year old scanners under newer versions of Windows. This was my first personal Fujitsu purchase.
Summary: So, I ordered this a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. I played with it for about 3 hours so far. A few random thoughts. 1.) Amazon and their 'smart' upsale technique wasted about $5.00 for me. - People who bought this 'also' bought.... and here is a USB cable. So, I click. - DON'T !!!! The product comes with all the cables you need. Further, the one that Amazon suggests WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS SCANNER.
