Excerpt: This product was purchased only after careful research. It has exceeded my expectations, but somethings might be improved. For example, cash receipts are a hassle when only two inches wide. If the scanner is positioned on a platform or shelf and the document receivor is not folded out, then a file tray placed in front of the scanner can catch the scanned pages easily. Great product!
Excerpt: I already owned a scansnap, so when I needed a second one, I did not hesitate to buy the new and supposedly improvement model. It has been very disappointing. You can't pick where to send the scan after you scan (ie, to save or to email), you have to do that before which is a pain because sometimes you forget that setting. Second it conflicted with my anti-virus software, so I had to install the antivirus and find some other to install.
Summary: It is very fast and scans even wrinkled and torn documents. Rarely jams unless I leave a staple in. Very disappointed that it does not have twain compliant drivers so I could scan directly from Quicken. I use it to scan receipts, but they have to be scanned to a file and then attached the a transaction in Quicken.
Summary: I am very impressed at the scanning speed of this product and would not hesitate to recommend it for that purpose. I am, however, having quite a bit of trouble getting the SnapScan software to function as I thought (and was lead to believe) that it would. Most likely the issue is "operator error" and not a problem with the product itself. My skills are highly suspect. I like the concept and am working my way through the operation, but for me, it is not a simple task.
Excerpt: This is my personal Scanner that sets on my credenza and therefore does not get a lot of use. This was the second Scan Snap I bought for the office. About 10 days ago is started with feeding problems. Each time I place something in the feeder to scan I never know how many times I'll have to press the scan button before it activates.
Software is clunky but the machine itself is excellent

Excerpt: The ScanSnap X500 scanner works better for me linked to a Windows machine than a Mac, although the software says both are compatible. Mechanically, the scanner works faultlessly. It is extremely easy to set up and use. I find the software difficult to navigate and I think this could be improved. It should be intuitive, and the location of the scanned documents should be easier to find.
Excerpt: We bought three of these units. It is easy to use and was easy to install. We frequently have problems with one of the devices losing connection with the computer. Almost on a daily basis we have to unplug the cable and then plug it back in. It has happened spordically on another one.
Summary: 2nd update - Received 3rd ix500 scanner today from PCNation - Scanner installed and worked perfectly first time. I would advise anyone who receives this scanner, and who is finding that it is not working properly after installing, that it is probably a waste of time to talk to Fujitsu support. The problem, as I've experienced, is defective machines. Just to recap below comments, the first 2 scanners I received would not work properly or would not install.
