Excerpt: The original one was great. The updated version is terrible: it regular crumples receipts. Their proposed solution is inane: use the sheet feeder? Why would someone purchase a document scanner for its ability to scan multiple documents quickly, and then use a sheet feeder. So I have to scour the web in search of something that works. Sigh. $500 down the tubes.
Excerpt: The product scans fast but the software and user interface of very difficult to navigate. They need an overhaul on how to write and display instructions. For the price this is not user friendly or worth buying. Its been very frustrating to set it up to work properly.
Summary: I purchased this item based largely on the positive Amazon reviews. Reviews, which must have been written upon first impressions of the product. I've been using this scanner for 9 months. During this time I've only scanned 798 pages (as per the Scanner's software that counts pages). Last month, the scanner stopped properly feeding paper. It would make its usual 5 attempts, and then report a paper jam (when in fact, the paper was never fed).
Excerpt: Was excited to get iX500. Sadly, the scanning software is deficient. Scans using our printers' scanning software were more accurate. Accuracy, not just speed, is the name of the game. Moreover, the other scans were easier to correct. Fujitsu needs to take a long look at the scanning software products and significantly upgrade its scanning software. We were going to purchase multiple ScanSnaps but now have backed off until we can verify there is more reliable scanning.
Summary: I was very excited when I purchased the Scansnap. I noticed there were plenty of low rating reviews within the last 2 months. However, I went ahead and bought it hoping I wouldn't get a bad one. When the machine arrived, I happily scanned several documents. It worked great until I used the duplex mode in the 3rd day. Blue and Green Vertical bars covered the other side of the document rendering it to be unreadable. I was disappointed.
Seems to be a quality control issue. Works well when it works!

Summary: I bought this based on professional reviews and comments of previous ScanSnap models and the reviews on Amazon. The scanner worked great for 3 weeks and then starting experiencing a variety of issues that strongly appear to be related to the model. 1. During some scans, the rollers would not stop even after the documents were scanned. 2. Orange light blinking for a period of time. 3. Light stays blue even when you close the machine.
Summary: I had a Scansnap S1500 that I was very happy with. Very reliable, worked great. I was excited to get the iX500, mostly for faster scanning. The unit is almost unusable it is so flaky. It randomly shuts down and stops communicating with my computer. Sometimes closing and opening it fixes the problem. Sometimes unplugging and replugging the USB cable. Sometimes I have to cycle power.
Summary: Just got this because it had the most positive feedback, however, right away started giving hardware errors, worked a couple times but most of the time just gives the same error. Sending it back.
