Summary: I had wanted a multi-function machine for this much money but after researhing for months, it became clear that a multi machine would not make me happy. I took a chance on this unit because of the good reviews and the great return policy at Costco. So far this little scanner has been fantastic. I have it set up to my pc, haven't set up to the Mac yet. It is pretty compact in size and it is really fast.
Summary: Simply the best scanner I have ever used. I upgraded from the S1500. (I still have it: I now use it for travel purposes and as a backup.) The iX500 is definitely an upgrade. It scans faster with far fewer jams then the S1500. The only problem I had was with making searchable PDFs. It turned out to be my fault for not installing the Acrobat software that was supplied. I was able to clear up that issue with 3 calls to Fujitsu support.
Summary: Very easy install and set up - was scanning in about 15 minutes or so. I have had it about a week so far - and plan to update this review as I get more use out of it. So far though, its been a very good out of the box experience. Did not have to read the instructions much at all to get it running. Pros: - Small, fast. - Handles business cards - Page feeder works well - no jamming so far on several hundred pages scanned.

Summary: I just got this scanner and it's incredible! Having been extremely busy the past few months, I had tons of unopened mail and important documents lying around. It would literally take 40-60 hours to go through, read everything and file them accordingly. As a result, I purchased this scanner and spend the last 6 hours scanning everything in sight. During that time, it jammed just a handful of times (I scanned over 500 pages)!
Great scanner for normal A size documents, but not for A3 as they advertize.

Summary: I bought this mainly because it said it could do A3 size documents, but after receiving it, I found out that to do an A3 size document, you have to fold it in half and insert it in-between a clear film packet (carrier) to feed it through the scanner. Then the software will stitch the two halves together. The problem is, it doesn't stitch it together very well at all.
Pros: This is very fast, quite, good looking scanner which beats all competitors. I bought ScanSnap ix500 and Brother ADF-2000 to compare side by side. I learned that the ScanSnap ix500 better than Brother ADF-2000 by following positions:
Summary: I have had this scanner for about 3 months and like it a lot. I decided to go paperless at my business and the ScanSnap made it possible. The only problem I have had is a glitch with the software. Periodically, it will fail to recognize that the ScanSnap is plugged in and I have to reboot my computer to get it to work. This can be pretty aggravating when you have several projects open on your computer.
Summary: Only U S B 3.0 with wireless connectivity and both sided scanner I could find. Tremendous improvement in technology Hard Ware for Sure and some Software and organization. Cloud computing is additional benefit.Wi- Fi Capable and two sided scanning is nice feature. Last H.P. in 2007 was poor performer from the start with paper getting jammed and curled up frequently.
Summary: I read on Amazon that everyone loved this scanner. So, I ordered it. Now I know WHY everyone loves it because I love it, too. It is fast, easy, versatile and indispensable for work. There are very good reasons why it is so popular. Do not pass "GO" -- just order it and fall in love like everyone else. Get the software bundle that makes the scanner so easy and versatile beyond the ease and versatility of the hardware itself.
Excerpt: Over the last couple of weeks I've been converting to a paperless system. The iX500 was the most recommended scanner and know I see why. It's fast and trouble free. I scanned over 1000 pages in the last couple of weeks and I only had 1 jam in that entire time, that was when I put the pages in...
