Spend a little more money, unless you intend to meltdown for science class!

Summary: I have owned many Epson products over the years and have always been impressed with their product offerings. I wish I could say the same thing about this scanner, but unfortunately they have missed the mark here. I tried everything, but I could not get this machine to feed pages from the Automatic Document Feeder without jams and miss-feeds, one page works fine, two pages and the mishaps begin.
Summary: I use the GT-1500 in my Paperless Office system. It is very versatile allowing 8.5 X 11 or larger pages to be scanned, flat bed vs. Auto feed, color, or black & white and it is reasonably fast for daily office work. It also provides an OCR feature which is nice when needed. I scan documents and then link them to my QuickBooks online documentation. I have enjoyed this scanner and recommend it.
Summary: Several critical steps are left out or unclear in the installation instructions, such as disengaging the shipping lock! The software has so many additional programs that they interrupt each other trying to install. Installation of the software can take hours even on a quality business machine. Maybe someday the product will be worth the annoyance, but for now I am about to toss the whole thing.
Summary: This is a nice scanner. I especially like the sheet feeder. However, a word of warning to Windows 8 users: Included in the software provided with the scanner is ABBYY FineReader, Version 9. The latter software is incompatible with Microsoft Office for Windows 8 programs, and causes them to crash.
Summary: The GT1500 is excellent for a small office. So much so we bought a second one. The first one is now a year old and is a pleasure to use. Fast, simple, reliable, and to make it even better affordable.
Excerpt: Fast setting up, just followed the card of instructions. I would like the same type card for how to use. I'm from the old school & don't like running to the internet finding out how to use something I just bought.
Summary: This machine is easy to use, but it the automatic feeder mechanism does not work well. I had sent the first one back when it became difficult to feed pages. The new one worked for a few weeks, but eventually developed the same problem. It also has a somewhat large footprint to use on a desk, so I have to keep it on a high shelf which is not covenient.
