Summary: The DS-30 seems to be fine in regard to its hardware, but in comparison to the similar ScanSnap unit, the software is very deficient. No multiple pages, weak feedback, unclear options, totally missing documentation for the more recent OS X versions, etc.
Summary: I have not yet succeeded in installing the DS-30, even with professional help. Its functions appear to be much less than i hoped for -- particularly I have not found a description of how to have the scanner recognize the insertion of document to scan without having to select the scan button for each sheet I'm trying to use it with Windows 8.1 -- and am beginning to doubt that is possible.
Summary: If you have a favorite scan application, this may not be the scanner for you. Previous scanners I used I just plugged in, ran Simple Scan, and everything just worked. No junky scan software to load, nothing new to learn. The WorkForce DS-30 uses a proprietary USB protocol so you are forced to use a proprietary Epson driver. Since I had updated my Mac, of course the proprietary Epson driver installer got stuck and just sat there. No error messages, no nothing.
Summary: I used it last night on five old (30+ years) baby pictures - it worked great. Today, I needed to use it on some recent photographs, but they would not slide through the scanner without skewing. Worthless.
Summary: I found that the instructions on its use are not detailed enough for a person with limited computer knowledge. I would really like to use this product effectively but it lacked the instruction I was hoping for. I can use it but need more details on appropriate use.
Summary: I bought this scanner for the obvious purpose of scanning documents to help reduce "Paper"! I own an Epson flat-bed scanner (Epson Perfection V500) at home and ABSOLUTELY loved it!! It's been a "Work-Horse"!! So, I figured this Epson Scanner would be carrying on the tradition of quality.... unfortunately not. The first 20-30 scans worked fantastically!! Then the problems started. :( First, it started mis-feeding but not on all documents...
Summary: An excellent travel scanner, lightweight. Set up was a little cumbersome, and of course more wires to contend with, but this scanner works as advertised. Once set up, scans are pretty fast and come out crisp and clear. I'm happy with it, and will continue to use. On it's 3rd use this morning It simply died. Reasons unknown. Simply would not turn on. I handled this thing with kid gloves as I do all my tech. Big Disappointment, when it worked it was excellent.
Summary: I had highly anticipated the purchase of this scanner after much research. The product seemed to be one of the higher quality portable canners with many of the features I wanted, like t he ability to save directly to the cloud. I decided to get it though a store retailer and when I got it home and attempted to install it, the computer would not recognize the scanner.
