Epson Perfection V750

The Epson Perfection V750 is a flatbed color image scanner with Epson’s Dual Lens System, High-Pass Optics, and Digital ICE. It has a color matrix Charged Coupled Device (CCD) line sensor and a while cold cathode fluorescent lamp light source.

This scanner measures 12.0 x 6.0 x 20.0 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 14.5 pounds. It connects to computers via Hi-Speed 2.0 or FireWire (IEEE 1394) and is compatible with Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional, and Windows XP x64 Edition. It is also compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

The Perfection V750 has a maximum read area of 8.5 x 11.7 inches. It has a built-in transparency adapter that measures 8 x 10 inches. It comes with four film holders that can be used to simultaneously scan twelve of 35-millimeter slides, twenty-four frames of 35-millimeter film strips, two frames of 4 x 5-inch film, and medium format 2.25-inch strips.

The Epson Perfection V750 offers a 48-bit color depth. Because of its Dual Lens System, it is able to offer scans at 4800 dpi (40,800 x 56,160 effective pixels) and 6400 dpi (37,760 x 62,336 effective pixels) resolutions. It has a maximum hardware resolution of 6400 x 9600 dpi because of its built-in Micro Step Drive technology. This resolution can be expanded to 12800 x 12800 dpi with software interpolation. This scanner offers a scanning speed of 10.8 milliseconds per line when on the 4800 dpi high-speed mode for both monochrome and full color scanning.

  • scanning slides

I'm scanning photos, prints, transparencies, and slides of original art, all at very high resolution (6400 & 9600 dpi) so that the finished images can be as large as, say, 10' wide at 300 dpi. Problem with slides: is there a way to overcome the tiny dimensions in the scanning process? Epson won't let me change the initial scan size (message that change is "out of range"). So, even scanning at 9600 dpi, the images are only 2-4' wide at 300 dpi. Any advice?
