Great Scanner - Software Fail
15 December 2013
Summary: I purchased the V700 a few years back and used it for years without a problem. Then I upgraded my OS and the Silverfast software it came with - much better then the Epson Scan - is incompatible with the newer MacOS's.
Summary: I purchased this unit partially based on the description that it worked both with firewire and USB. The unit I received does not have a firewire port. The box, documentation and Epson's website say that it has firewire. Very poor job Epson!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary: I have installed the v-700 software and the Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and absolutely nothing is working!! Nothing comes up as shown on the instruction sheet. There are no instructions on how to get started. Very disappointing.
Summary: Hate it. I have spent hours trying to get a scan that will not crop off 10% of the bottom and top of a 35mm negative. This makes each output look panoramic. It may do the same for 35mm slides but I will not be doing slides. I can scan a 120mm negative using the pro manual settings for size but find no way to adjust 35mm format.
Summary: This product was purchased for my graphics and design business and it is a big disappointment. I researched for the best scanner at a reasonable price and this one seemed to fit the bill. Instead, I am stuck with a machine which is Very slow and cumbersome. The digital ice feature is less than useless, it gives a big smeared picture. And I expected much more accurate color replication.
Summary: After many weeks studying the pro's and cons of this unit I decided I would purchase it to scan my hundreds of 4x5 negatives. I could not get anything remotely approaching the quality i wanted. The focus was MILES out. I contacted Epson who told me to adjust the feet on the neg holder. I tried every option but without success. I also tried scanning on the Auto setting as well as the maximum quality manual settings, no use at all.
