Summary: The V700 seems to be a nice piece of hardware and the software allows for good quality scans to image files, but it will absolutely not produce a pdf.
Summary: Although I haven't yet completely given up on purchasing Epson's V700 scanner, it won't take much more frustration for me abandon my efforts to actually use this
Summary: The whole experience was very poor. I received the scanner and nothing else. It was missing the slide holders and all the software. It is still not working properly.

Summary: Although it does an excellent job I would definitely not recommend this scanner. I had two of them. One broke because of a mechanical failure in the bottom.
Summary: Since there are no other relatively inexpensive film scanners on the market that will do 4x5 I bought the V700. It scan reflective ok. BUT. Not transparencies.
