Excerpt: I have 1000s of my dad's slides that need to be converted to digital. As he was a good photographer, I wanted a converter that would not compromise the quality of his shots. I've only just started the process but the quality has been impressive. I guess the pay off for that is speed. I don't have any other conversion speeds to compare this one to, but it seems slow to me. That's the only drawback so far.
Excerpt: I debated whether I should get this scanner or spend the extra and get the V800. I'm scanning family photos and documents and this scanner works very well. The software that came with it is okay, but I also bought Vuescan.
Excerpt: Very fast scanner, and does a good job with 35mm for a flat bed and medium definitely looks good. I'm a fan of Epson scanners and this is no exception. Build quality on the film masks is a bit chintzy.
Pros: Accurate Color, Easy To Set Up, Excellent Software, Good Bit Depth, Good Resolution
Excerpt: The disk that came with the scanner never loads the software information correctly. If you download the install from Epson online then everything is good. A frustrating start, but good for the price!
Pros: Accurate Color, Good Bit Depth, Good Resolution
Summary: like other hardware items i have purchased, there is always a learning curve. i take it all scanners are some what slow, but i should figure out the most efficient ways to operate the scanner. Good scanner, maybe great as I get to know it with use. The investment is worthwhile. i have thousands and thousands of photo, slides and negatives. Do I have the time to actually capture them to a digital format? Epson has given me the tool to start and find out.
Summary: This scanner is what we have been looking for a long time. It takes a little time to get used to it and the software, but copies of my old slides come out just like the originals. We have tried several of the cheaper, all-in-one small copiers, but all have been returned. They do not reproduce slides very well at all. Go for the Epson V600 and you won't be sorry. Bill W.
