Not a big improvement

Gary W Stallones, Amazon

  • Summary: First, this is a great scanner for the money for the first time buyer. What disappointed me was there doesn't appear to be any leap in performance or quality over my old Perfection 4490 so I question whether I should have replaced it.

Great Scanner If You Are Not in a Hurry`

Gregorian Chanter, Amazon
  • Summary: This scanner does an amazing job. It can capture the fine detail of photos, slides and negative. It also works well capturing paper documents, pages from books, newspaper and magazine clippings, etc. I did not expect it to be speedy, and it is not. For me, that is fine. Especially for critical work like copying and restoring old photos, I will spend much more time making things look right after the scan than scanning.

Incredible performance and capabilities

Dominique J. Morin, Amazon

  • Summary: For years, I have been looking for a scanner capable of scanning, restoring, and improving my color slides and old color negatives. I had a bad experience before with other manufacturers bragging about their photo scanners. It was quite by accident that I saw the Epson V550 in a store.

Great scanner

Zadzpad, Staples

  • Excerpt: Epson makes the best scanners! I had my last Epson scanner (it did a wonderful job) for many years of heavy use, but it finally got tired. This new scanner is better than any I've had before! With the LEDs no waiting time is required while the scanner warms up, which is so convenient. The images generated are identical to the original--sharp and colors are accurate. And the Epson Scan software is quick and easy to use. Epson has come thru again, hitting a home run!

So Far I love This

Alan D. Sugarman, Amazon

  • Summary: I purchased this to replace an Epson 3200 - it was a great scanner but showing age. Also, the software would not work for Mavericks. The V550 is a true upgrade/replacement to the 3200. The V550 is even better - Epson tweaked a lot of small things and the negative holders is much better than before. Far easier to load and to place in the scanner. I have scanned negatives and the results are as expected - fantastic. HIghly recommnended.

Scanner great but beware Adware

B Flynn Photographer, Staples
  • Excerpt: The scanner has a lot of features. The holders provided with the unit do not hold every old film size but you can work around this easily. The area I was most impressed with was the software. It has Adware in it that hijacked my homepage settings "Outfoxtv", it had "Jotkey" in there too and it caused problems with my use of my pc.

Epson V550 be aware

B Flynn Photographer, Staples

  • Excerpt: The V550 scanner is as good as most scanners and has some good features that make this choice one a photographer can use and appreciate. Quality of the images are good, resolution is high and therefore give a quality result. Holders come with the unit but do not hold every size of old film but that can be work through with some thought. The software that comes with the scanner covers a lot of your needs.
