Excerpt: My family has a lot of old negatives, slides, and photos from decades ago and I needed a scanner that was easy to use and produced solid results. After doing some research and thinking seriously about sending the items to a lab, I found this GREAT scanner at Staples after walking into the store on a whim. Wow. Works fast, efficiently, and is very easy to use. No problem working with my Mac either.
Summary: While the material states that this product will scan slides and work with both PC's and Apple, it will not scan to the Apple iPhoto application. It DOES scan to other Apple applications, just not to iPhoto.
Summary: I bought this after reading all the positive reviews, to scan old black & white (and some hand-tinted) photos of my family, some dating back to before WWI. I was attracted by the 6400 dpi capabilities. However, imagine my disappointment when, even in "Pro" mode, I can't scan any of these photos at 6400 dpi resolution. The whole idea is to capture these images in the highest resolution possible. If anyone has any solution to this problem, please let me know.
Summary: For my needs to scan slides this machine has been helpful. A bit time consuming since most of my slides are not 35 mm but 2" square...older version of taking slides. Problem I have with the 35 mm...is yes, you can do (4) four at a time but not in the same size catagory. I want my slides when copied to almost fit the screen...only one of the (4) four allows that to happen. In essence I am doing the same procedure as with the 2".
Excerpt: So happy with my new scanner! It was really simple to set up, 10 minutes. Put the disc in and follow simple steps. Plug in to outlet and connect USB to your computer. And start scanning. The quality of scan was a big improvement from my older printer/scanner. Can scan multiple pictures at one time. Press button on scanner to start scan, click on scan and it's done in 10 seconds.
Summary: As someone who faced the daunting prospect of wanting to scan around a thousand pictures to back up digitally, I knew I had one heck of a task in front of me. After doing some research, I ended up purchasing the Epson V550. Doing so has made my job infinitely easier. The V550's ability to individually scan and crop multiple photos at once is nothing short of a godsend.
Summary: This is a great scanner. It is very easy to use and does a great job! So far I have scanned in both color photos and color slides and am very pleased with it. Looking forward to using it to digitize my entire collection of photos and slides!
Excerpt: Must say I love Epson scanners and the photo printer that I have. When I needed a scanner that would scan negatives I started looking at an Epson scanner that would scan my box of old negatives. I have been scanning these old negatives and there is definitely a 'learning curve'. I am getting the hang of it and I am very happy with how the scans have turned out.
