Summary: Have you ever bought something that is intuitive and easy to use, yet provides superior results? Well, this scanner isn't it. I has left a really bad after taste. The good; Easy to use, full auto mode with color correction does a pretty good job removing dust and restoring color in most instances. The bad; This is the deal breaker to me, it lops off around 3/8" of your picture if you use the back or end side for alignment. For instance, you want to scan 6 small photos.
Excerpt: Difficult to install (the included disk did not contain the necessary software, and I had to serach for the drivers online). The manual is extremely un-helpful, and I had to spend an hour on the phone with a tech guy to learn how to perform a very basic function. Would not recommend this scanner.
Summary: AS DELIVERED INSTAL CD WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OSX 10.9.1 DOWNLOADING UPDATE FROM THE INTERNET WAS A BEAR, AND STILL NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL. SIMPLE COPYING IS SLOW, SLOW, SLOW! (3 TIMES AS LONG AS MY OLD CANON) HELP CENTER WAS INCOMPREHENSIBLE - BACKGROUND NOISE AND CHATTER SOUNDED LIKE AN INDIAN BAZAAR, AND DOES ANYONE SPEAK ENGLISH?
Summary: very disappointed in this product. (for mac) the provided drivers didn't work. understandable with Mavericks out for a few months. located and downloaded the new drivers/software. much of the listed functionality under mountain lion and such doesn't work. the provided updates from epson are worthless. the control buttons don't actually do anything except launch the scan app. which makes you select the scanner every time from a list. then you can slowly scan.
Excerpt: I use my scanner very little. I inadvertently left my printer on and the scanner no longer shuts off with the button. For some reason it is not compatible with windows 7. I am able to use it but I would never buy it if I had known it's limitations. When I use it now I just unplug it to shut it off. I'm an old man & not very good with computers.
