Excerpt: I purchased this device based on its compatibility with windows 7. I spent 5 hours trying all the tech tricks I could find to get my software to recognize the scanner. I gave up about midnight last night. I am returning this device today. I found this to be a frustrating experience and I am now at least a day and a half behind on my project. I cannot recommend this scanner to anyone.
Summary: I like the door opening to the side as it makes for easy placement of books. The software has the ability to filter out my highlights in the book which makes me very happy. It scans fast, it's easy to add multiple pages, PDF's with Optical Character Recognition works very nicely. Great rotation feature for books or documents that work in either landscape or portrait.
Summary: Have you ever bought something that is intuitive and easy to use, yet provides superior results? Well, this scanner isn't it. I has left a really bad after taste. The good; Easy to use, full auto mode with color correction does a pretty good job removing dust and restoring color in most instances. The bad; This is the deal breaker to me, it lops off around 3/8" of your picture if you use the back or end side for alignment. For instance, you want to scan 6 small photos.
Summary: I purchased this scanner based on the reviews here, and I was not disappointed at all. I needed a scanner that the lid would open flat (180+ degrees) so that I could scan old photo albums that the pictures cannot be removed from. It is very light weight & small, so it does not take up much space. You cannot beat it for ease of use. I have not yet tried any of the other settings besides the auto scan, which is all that I need at this time.
