Summary: I purchased this scanner due to a recommendation from two friends who used one to scan in slides. I have hundreds of slides of our kids growing up, fishing trips, camping and so on. This scanner does an EXCELLENT job. I scanned them in on "Full Auto" mode at 600 DPI. 600 will do fine. You have much greater resolution available, but it is unnecessary for slides. Showing them on our 55 inch LED TV is outstanding. No pixeling etc. Just great looking images.
Summary: I'm extremely pleased I selected this photo scanner instead of one of the stand alone slide scanners. My primary purpose for the scanner will be to scan over 5,000 35m slides. When I'm done I'll still have a use for it since I have thousands of still photos to scan. I found the quick guide instructions easy to follow and set-up took about twenty minutes. Scanning slides is a breeze and rather quick.
Summary: Lightweight, low profile scanner with bonus of slide and transparency support. The 35mm slide holder is problematic, light touch required or the slide pops out the other side. No instructions on loading slides to see if there is a trick to it.
Summary: I don't remember seeing the page mention that the scanner was refurb but considering the price it was still a great deal. I had been tracking this scanner for a couple years to use on all my old 35mm negatives. For [$] it is well worth the price. The scans look great! Load a strip in the holder (which is up to 6 negatives) and the scanner automatically scans each neg individually without needing user assistance. Not the fastest scanner, but quick enough.
Summary: The scanner is very easy to use, recognizes the software and copying to printer was a breeze in that it automatically recongized the installed printer. The sw is smart too, to recognize two different documents on the platen at the same time and it printed two separate pages.
