Summary: I just use Macs and Linux in my house so all of my computer peripheral reviews tend to be either from the perspective of a Mac / Linux user or slants in that general direction. I really like this scanner because it just works out of the box with my Linux box. Plug and play, easy peasy no problems at all! After my experience of borrowing a Canon scanner from my office and having it not being able to detect on me, this was a huge plus!
OK scanner but BEWARE: Copy utility has major limitation
16 October 2013
Summary: Not a bad scanner. However, I must warn that the copier utility (that comes with the printer software/drivers) imposes a limit of 20 copies per scan. This might seem like a nit but if you are an educator and need to make more than 20 copies then this is a royal pain in the neck. You have to go through the cropping and other tedious stuff to make that 21st copy! I contacted Epson about this.
Summary: At first, I was rather disappointed with my new (well, reconditioned) Epson Perfection V33 flatbed computer scanner. My first couple of tests with nearby objects resulted in crudely cropped pictures of the objects. After this inauspicious start on my MS Vista system, I tried installing it on an old Windows 2000 system I have.
Summary: I bought my V33 because it said it is Windows 7 compatible. Imagine my surprise when I found the fine print on scan to mail that said "Not supported on Windows 7. See the readme file for currently supported E-mail applications". To make it even worse, I can not find that file or any such information.
Summary: Everything from the misleading size to the software. Ad said scan size is A3 (11x17) actually is A4, when it comes to the software if you install it DO NOT install anything that says Abbey it will make your Microsoft Windows office products not to function properly.
Summary: I really like the ease of use of my Epson Perfection V33 scanner. I've had it for some time now and it hasn't let me down. I scan documents, photos and other things as needed. Is quick, quiet and easy to use. Thanks Epson for such a fine scanner.
