Summary: We read reviews and thought this was the answer to our scanning problem. We found that the process was time consuming and the resolution not good. Epson indicated it was a Mac problem with "image capture". The scanned slide was pixilated, not acceptable nor usable.
Summary: Bought this item to scan about 30 years worth of color negatives and slides. I am running Windows 7, 64 bit and setup was flawless. Paper documentation is scanty but I soon was scanning my negatives. The overall quality of what I scanned seemed good, however each scan was marred by a dark vertical line extending parallel to one edge through the entire image.
Epson Perfection V300 not compatible with Windows 7

Summary: I have used four scanners and this was the first new unit I could not get to work, no matter what software upgrades I tried. Not worth the effort so I returned it, bought the Cannon 8000F and it installed flawlessly the first time. Amazon return was flawless as usual.
Summary: I purchased this scanner Epson Perfection V300 photo scanner several months ago, and have managed to get it to work only once!! After downloading the software, I initially was able to use it, though only by using the SCAN button on the scanner itself....and was able to scan one item. I later went to use it, and got an error message. And it has not worked since!!
Espon ships it broken - then forces you to go to a repair shop

Summary: Massive delays. The scanner didn't work when it came (long vertical bar down the center of each scan - with wrinkling effect around the edges). Tech support identified it as a broken scanner, but instead of sending me a new one, the forced me to drive 15 minutes to a repair center. The repair center said it would take 4 days. But after 4 days they couldn't fix it because EPSON wouldn't send them the part.
Scanner died within 90 days of purchase, tech support useless
mindluge "mental inhabitant", Amazon
9 July 2010
Summary: I bought this scanner new from Amazon in April. As of July the scanner is dead. It simply won't turn on. I've tried it in 4 different power outlets in the house and with two different computers. Plug it in, push the power button, and nothing happens. I called Epson tech support and they said I had to either drive it to a city that is almost 2 hours away (I live in Austin, the capitol of the state of Texas, so it's not like I live in the boondocks) or ship it at my...
Drivers would not install--even with help from Tec Support

19 November 2009
Summary: I have a rather ordinary Vario computer that has never complained about any installation of software or hardware until I tried the V30 (also goes for the V300--same thing). The drivers would say that they had installed, but when I clicked the v30 icon, it said they had not installed. After an hour on the phone (my dime!) with support, the nice guy at the other end put me on hold while he went to "find other resources." Of course the phone line dropped!
Summary: The Epson v30 does a great job of scanning both photos and blk & wht documents on both Win XP and Mac OS X 10.6. The Epson software is both intuitive for the beginner, and allows for deep tweeking for the more advanced user. The only problem, and it is a BIG PROBLEM, is that the install disk includes ArcSoft software. These 2 programs are extremely intrusive, showing pop-ups on both Windows and Mac OS.
