Summary: Bought this item to scan about 30 years worth of color negatives and slides. I am running Windows 7, 64 bit and setup was flawless. Paper documentation is scanty but I soon was scanning my negatives.
Epson Perfection V300 not compatible with Windows 7

1 February 2011
Summary: I have used four scanners and this was the first new unit I could not get to work, no matter what software upgrades I tried. Not worth the effort so I returned it, bought the Cannon 8000F and it installed flawlessly the first time. Amazon return was flawless as usual.
Summary: I purchased this scanner Epson Perfection V300 photo scanner several months ago, and have managed to get it to work only once!! After downloading the software, I initially was able to use it, though only by using the SCAN button on the scanner itself....and was able to scan one item.
Scanner died within 90 days of purchase, tech support useless

9 July 2010
Summary: I bought this scanner new from Amazon in April. As of July the scanner is dead. It simply won't turn on. I've tried it in 4 different power outlets in the house and with two different computers. Plug it in, push the power button, and nothing happens.
Summary: The Epson v30 does a great job of scanning both photos and blk & wht documents on both Win XP and Mac OS X 10.6. The Epson software is both intuitive for the beginner, and allows for deep tweeking for the more advanced user.
Drivers would not install--even with help from Tec Support

Summary: I have a rather ordinary Vario computer that has never complained about any installation of software or hardware until I tried the V30 (also goes for the V300--same thing). The drivers would say that they had installed, but when I clicked the v30 icon, it said they had not installed.
Great for XP, Not So Great for Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Summary: I too have found the support for this scanner from Epson to be way below sub-par. The printer was purchased 6 months ago and worked fantastic, without a flaw on my Windows XP laptop. Unfortunately, that laptop had a very small hard drive so I had to purchase a new laptop.
Summary: We read reviews and thought this was the answer to our scanning problem. We found that the process was time consuming and the resolution not good. Epson indicated it was a Mac problem with "image capture". The scanned slide was pixilated, not acceptable nor usable.
Summary: I downloaded the latest drivers for Win 7 64 bit from Epson web site, the connected the scanner. I found that using either the included software or Vuescan resulted in the scanner locking up. The only way to resolve this was to unplug the unit.
