Epson Perfection 4990 Photo

PC Magazine
20 June 2007
  • Conclusion: The Epson Perfection 4990 Photo does a terrific job scanning photos, and it handles slides better than most flatbed scanners. However, it's also highly photocentric. The only bundled program that isn't meant for photos is an OCR package that's extremely limited by today's standards.
  • Pros: Digital ICE for removing scratches. Color restore feature. Dust removal for scanning film. Film scan quality is among the best for flatbed scanners.
  • Cons: No ADF. Comes with little software for scanning anything but photos and film.
