Pros: Excellent. I finally got back to trusty brands and avoid the new influx of cheap junk. Epson gets the job done in spades. The software is top notch. NO compatability issues. No breakdowns. No behavior shifts over time.
Summary: I bought this scanner to replace a 2480. I thought it would be an upgrade, but it's really not. I've only had this scanner for 5 months and now all my scans come out with a bright band down the right side. Each time I retry, more bands seem to appear. I'm taking it in for repair this Friday.
Pros: It really is a good scanner. The professional mode allows you to take "raw" scans and the software it comes with allows you to properly adjust light/dark, color, saturation, etc.
Cons: Motor sounds "rough" and the scanner doesn't seem any better than the older 2480 model. It isn't as fast as I'd like it to be, but I don't think the speed I want can be had at this price.
Summary: Bought it to scan some old slides and negatives. Seems to fit this purpose well. plan to scan some old prints and our professionsal photos. Plan to use it to scan some important docs as well.
Pros: Scan quality, can get it working even the front panel buttons without 500mb of junky bloated memory resident software (i.e. HP scanners). Twain support and scanning modes work for all experience levels. Handles slides and negatives well.
Cons: Not really. I wish it where faster scanning at 3200dpi but they are all slow at this quality unless you are going with e a dedicated slide scanner.
Summary: I can scan a photo, then scan the negative, and can't tell the difference between them at all. The ability to scan to PDF with only provided software is wonderful. As an amateur outdoor photographer, I need the best I can get, for the best price, and with this unit, I know I made the right choice.
Pros: Speed, wonderful quality of images, proper film negative scanning, ability to scan multiple images into different files at once.
Summary: At under $100, this scanner was a great buy for me. I wanted to scan my slides and negatives and needed to replace my old HP Photosmart Slide scanner (2400 DPI) which uses a SCSI card with ISA slot and is not possible to use with my new computer.
Summary: As typical from Amazon, delivery was excellent. Product worked right out of the box. Excellent software included and due to TWAIN, can be used with any application that allows access to scanning. Large and small photos, gray scale or color, scan perfectly.

Summary: After reading numerous positive reviews of this scanner, both on Amazon and elsewhere, I decided to get it to do film negative scanning at home. So far I've been very happy with it. I just have a few warnings/caveats for others: 1. Having a cat, I have major dust problems in the house.
Summary: Lots of extra feature that I haven't figure out yet. In time I will
Pros: Excellent scanner for a low price. Highly recommend this as an everyday uses scanner. Newegg is the best place to shop with the best prices, it will be the only place for be to purchase computer related items. As always the shipping is fast, even to Alaska where I live. Thanks NEWEGG.
