Summary: Very impressed with quality of this scanner. Very clear and sharp images. It has a basic window to use on screen and a professional window to use on screen. The pro screen is a little hard to use and understand, but I found the basic screen to meet all my needs so far. I never found it necessary to use the buttons on the unit itself so I don't really know why they are there????
Summary: This was my first scanner and I sure did enjoy having it. However, I am operating it in the Windows Vista in an odd way. I may not be installing a driver right, but I am scanning in the Vista, just in a jackleg way. This scanner does not do PDFs, which is the reason I need to upgrade. Mostly what I did was scan photos, nice clear, colorful. I like the steps it took to get a simple photo scanned. The scanner feature is the EPSON Smart Panel.
Summary: This scanner is great! I found the price was reasonable and for like 20 more bucks, you get an accessory to print out your negative film. It works great and the resolution is very good. They only problem i didn't like was how you would have to take out the adapter wire from the back, then put in the negative film accessory, and then plug it back in to make the negative film accessory work.
Summary: I was looking for a reasonable priced Scanner for Photo's & Slides. I found the Epson Perfection 1250 Photo/Slide scanner to be what I was looking for. After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant because it said it was very complex to operate. I ordered this scanner because it was reasonably priced and had what I required. Upon receiving the Scanner I was totally impressed with the ability to copy 25 year old slides very well.
Summary: I am very happy with this scanner so far. Set up was very easy and I scanned my first picture in less than 15 minutes after taking it out of the box. My wife was worried about the amount of time it would take to scan but it scans photos in less than a minute. Great machine for the money. Quality is excellent. It even picks up fuss and dust, so you need to make sure whatever you are scanning is wiped off first.
Summary: The scanner quality is excellent, with good color reproduction and very good optical character recognition. There have been complaints about inadequate ability to adjust scan settings via the software. How to perform detailed adjustment is clearly addressed in the manual, and is easy to do. It goes like this: The automatic "smartset" program starts the scanning process and indeed has no detailed controls.
Summary: After reading the poor reviews of the software that is included with this scanner, I decided to only install the Epson TWAIN software and not use the Smart Panel software at all (both TWAIN and Smart Panel are included on the software CD). The TWAIN software works wonderfully for me on my iMac running OS 9.0, and it allows greater control over resolution, quality and image size than previous versions of Epson TWAIN software once the "automatic" setting is turned off.
Summary: I've always preferred Epson scanners. At work we used the top of the line, so when I needed a home unit, I thought this would fill the bill. So far, I've been very happy with it. It's lighter weight and slower than the professional models I've used, but it also cost less! Set up was a snap and it worked from the get-go. I'm happy with the performance and quality of scans; all the scans I've made thus far are very good.
Summary: Contrary to the experience of another reviewer, dust was not at all a noteworthy problem in my unit. The vast majority of the dust specks I have scanned were above the glass and on the pictures scanned. Users must be careful to clear these areas of dust prior to scanning. I found a dust-removal (anti-static) spray helpful in this regard.
