Summary: I really love the quality of the scans that I have made. This scanner scans quick and clear (my old scanner scanned really slow and very dark). However, I have had a strange problem with installation. Every once in a while, my usb port will not find the scanner and I have to reinstall the driver. This has only happened twice and does not take more than a minute, but it is still annoying.
Summary: I purchased this Epson B104091 Perfection 1200U USB Scanner (PC/Mac)for my daughter who just recently started using a pc. This product was so easy to setup and use that my daughter (who couldn't figure out how to save a word file)was able to setup this scanner and scan pictures all within an hour. The reviews for this product are right on target because it's a great product for the price.
Excerpt: When I bought my scanner two years ago, I decided that I did not have the money to buy again in a short while and researched the best scanner that I could buy. I needed a scanner that scanned images, but one that also scanned negatives. There were several on the market though some of them seemed really flimsy and not that well put together. I think my love affair with the Epson was when I saw how solid the machine was and I knew that it would do what I wanted it to do.
Excerpt: I owned an old Umax Astra 600P scanner which seemed agonizing slow, though quality of the output seemed very good. I read about the Epson Perfection in PC magazine which gave it Editor's Choice award so I decided to give it a try since it was available at buy.com with a £20 off coupon. To my disappointment, it 's not much better than my old Umax scanner. Somewhat faster, but no better output on my HP 733c printer using premium photographic grade paper.
Excerpt: This is one excellent scanner, I use my scanner to restore and edit photographs for my family and friends. With an optical resolution of 1200 by 2400 there is no need for interpolation, which is what cheap scanners use. Yes no longer do I get blurry edges of interpolated images and the images are perfectly crisp. For anyone wanting clear un-blurred images for whatever reasons this is the best option.
Excerpt: I waited more than 3 months for this scanner.Word has got out on just how good they are.If this sounds like a commercial well then I am sorry but this is a superb scanner and one well worth the wait to get one.I particularly liked the ease of the removal(and setup)of the slide adapter that sits on top.
Excerpt: This scanner is based on the Epson Perfection 1200U but the Photo has an additional feature of a transparency adapter which is ideal if you want to reproduce positive negatives, or normal negatives. The resolution is 1200 x 2400 and is 36bit which is one of the highest resolutions you can get in the current market. Demand is so high, it was difficult to get hold of, but prices around £200.
Pros: Transparency Adaptor, USB - Easy Connectivity, Fast Pre - scan

Excerpt: What a great scanner! I needed a good quality scanner for a newly started web design business from my home - yet I am on a tight budget and couldn't swing for the expensive "Professional" scanners. I couldn't be more pleased with my scanner purchase 2 1/2 weeks ago. First, installation was a breeze -- with the USB it is true plug and play. I was up and scanning within 20 minutes of opening the box.
Excerpt: At $249 this is at the high end for a flatbed scanner. If you use your scanner to make money, as I do in selling antique postcards on eBay, definitely. Go ahead and buy it even if you don't have the money. This is a piece of equipment that will pay for itself in online auctions. Buying postcards online can be a tricky proposition. Ordinary scanners do nothing in the way of exposing flaws like stains, foxing, and cracks.
