The GT-2500 Plus connects to computers via Hi-Speed USB or Ethernet. It is compatible with Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP x64 Edition and Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

This flatbed scanner can handle a maximum document size of 8.5 x 11.7 inches. It can be used to scan plain papers as well as bulky objects such as books or personal notebooks. The GT-2500 has an automatic document feeder (ADF) that supports a maximum media size of 8.5 x 14.0 inches (US Legal).

The Epson GT-2500 Plus offers a 48-bit color depth and a maximum optical resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi through its built-in Micro Step Drive technology. This resolution can be expanded to 9600 x 9600 dpi using the included software. When using the ADF, it offers a hardware resolution of 600 x 600 dpi which can be maximized to 1200 x 1200 dpi.

When scanning colored images, the GT-2500 Plus scans at speeds from 1.2 milliseconds per line (300 dpi) to 4.9 milliseconds per line (1200 dpi). When scanning in black & white, it scans at speeds from 0.4 milliseconds per line (300 dpi) to 1.6 milliseconds per line (1200 dpi). When using the ADF, the GT-2500 can scan at speeds from 3 pages per minute (color, 600 dpi) to 27 pages per minute (black & white, 300 dpi).

This scanner consumes 43 watts of power when operational and 15 watts when on standby. Apart from drivers, it comes with software such as Epson Scan, Captiva ISIS, Adobe Acrobat, and ScanSoft PaperPort.
