Summary: A very versitile machine. Any documents, even larger sized, can be easily and readily scanned to a .mpeg file. From that image file, it can be Emailed or archived onto a flash memory card for storage. Great for photograph conversion to image files or document recording to image files. Try it, you'll like it!
Summary: I had a large scanning project involving newspaper-size documents - and I cringed at the thought of having to rotate them around and scan every side twice on a regular-size scanner. This scanner is a dream! It whips through huge documents, and the histogram button provides an easy way to color-correct old, age-stained pages (mine dated from 1891).
Summary: I used the Epson Expression Graphic Arts Scanner ($3,000) while in college and when I graduated I needed to get a large format scanner for making prints of artwork. I couldn't afford that model so I settled for this one. Boy...I wasn't settling. Besides being only a few inches smaller (and $2k cheaper), I can't tell any difference in scan or color quality. It only takes about 2 minutes to scan the whole glass area at 600dpi.
Summary: I needed to scan a lot of multi page documents, most of which larger than 8.5 x 11. With this scanner I was able to scan a two page spread of the documents and was able to complete the task fairly quickly. Output is very high quality for both text and pictures. It offers a print to PDF function as part of the enclosed software which is what I needed. The scanner is quite fast and was very easy to setup. Price was not cheap, but was a good value.
Summary: I wrote the review that I've appended to this review about the 10000XL. I just got in a GT-20000 and it has the same exact problem. What's going on at Epson? I've used a 1640XL for years. It is having problems and I decided to upgrade to the 10000XL. I found 2 main problems with this scanner. The first has to do with the quality of the scan. The 10000XL introduces some darkening that is apparent in the white areas of the scanned image.
Great SCANNER, Great QUAILITY PICS, Terrible Speed !!

Summary: Hi. Im an Illustrator - Graphic Artist from South Florida. Recently at my work place, we got a GT20000 Epson Scanner but I can't really say things changed for better. Please keep in mind that at work, scanning high quality pics at high res(dpi) is a must. With this scanner there's no doubt you will get AWESOME results! My only problem is the speed. We use PC platform with fairly new computers and very good systems specs.

Summary: Those of you in the market for a large format scanner know that they can be much more expensive than their letter-sized counterparts. The selection is also limited, with a couple of options around two hundred dollars and the really good ones costing more than two grand. I needed to buy a scanner to replace an Epson Expression 836XL that I had used to scan my wife's watercolor paintings.
Summary: No frills installation and ease of use. This is a down and dirty scanner without all the clunky "options". The actual scan is lightning fast and the set up was very easy and quick. The only issue I have is that I can't acquire the scanner from Photoshop, I have to use the scan software (which itself, is easy to use). I'm sure I can do some more research and get the scanner accessible from Photoshop. A great deal!
