Summary: I have used the DR-M160 for several weeks now and overall am very satisfied with my purchase. The scanner is compact and efficient, and its feeder is heartrendingly competent. After years of tears with a very expensive Hewlett-Packard flatbed scanner which regularly failed, this Canon machine is a dream come true. I've thrown my toughest pitches at it and it connects solidly each time. Even those endless toilet paper receipts that retail stores pump out feed flawlessly.
Summary: I have a small office and I have 4 other Canon scanners and this one beats them all. It is very fast and it hasn't jammed or double fed any paper so far. I just ordered another one for my other office.
Summary: I usually buy Fujitsu because the fi-6130Z and up come with a Full Version of Kofax VRS (4.5 or 5.0 depending on model). I really liked the specifications and had good luck with Canon DR-3060 and DR-3080CII scanners. I have been trying new options since Fujitsu stopped bundling Acrobat Standard with new models such as the fi-6130Z.
Pros: Scans Fast. Works with Kofax Capture 10. If you don't need Kofax VRS then it's a good buy.
Cons: Bundled Kofax VSR is actually VRS Basic 4.5. VRS Basic noted in Overview but not in the Details. This is a new model and I expected VRS 5.0 (OEM) not VRS Elite the full version. VRS Basic 4.5 does not enable Auto Rotation or Blank Page Removal. In my opinion the two best reasons to use VRS. Luckily I had an extra VRS 4.5 Workgroup to use with this scanner.
Summary: This scanner is top notch, which is to be expected considering it costs as much as a good computer. Physically, the components seem very well made, I haven't had any jams at all, and it handles multiple sizes of paper - as long as it's less than about 11 inches, of course. I was a little worried that my somewhat old computer wouldn't be fast enough for the scanner, as the specs list some pretty hard core processor requirements.
Fast scanner, but PDF software leaves a lot to be desired

Summary: This scanner is not your average, run-of-the-mill consumer grade device, and its performance shows. Unfortunately, the software that is bundled with it keeps it from being a five-star item. I installed the TWAIN device driver as well as the eCopy PDF Pro Office software. I figured I would start with that and then go for the Kofax Virtual Rescan software, which appears to be for OCR (optical character recognition) and large volume document scanning, later.
Summary: Canon's ImageFormula DR-M160 scanner offers high-quality imaging for the business or home office. The compact design assures that the scanner won't take a great deal of space. The software and design are easy-to-use. I've found that the scanner works on a variety of sizes, from legal to letter and business cards. In fact, I've used the scanner mostly to capture business cards.
