Great Idea, Average Execution

Anonymous, Newegg
27 March 2009
  • Summary: While the feed scanner functionality is great in theory, this Canon advertises itself as small and convenient. I don't want "small and convenient." I manage a medical office, and I have a lot of paper that I want scanned NOW without my attention, even if that means a big, bulky monster of a machine.
  • Pros: This is miracle of modern technology for light-to-medium office paper scanning tasks. You will never go back to an flat-bed for paper document scanning.
  • Cons: No outgoing tray! This is my biggest complaint. Paper collects in a scrunched heap at the bottom of the scanner. A simple pull-out tray on the bottom would only have been some extra plastic molding, but how many scan jobs have been interrupted because outgoing paper jammed against my messy desk? ...

Portable, Feature Packed, Great OCR... But a little Skewy

Anonymous, Newegg
29 May 2008
  • Summary: I used this scanner extensively for an archive project so was able to thoroughly test the various quirks. No doubt it is a feature packed highly portable scanner, however I am personally looking for an ADF scanner that I can just load up and go, which I do not believe is possible with this scanner.
  • Pros: The Canon name, the included software (Adobe Acrobat 7 especially) and the light, portable design are all great features of this little scanner. The OCR is also especially clued up with this scanner, and beat a couple of existing scanners I had been working with in a direct comparison of text rec...
  • Cons: This scanner had real problems with skewing. This issue plagued me when scanning various different media. It seems that the single roller (located in the center of the scanner), just doesn't "cut the mustard". The included software comes with a deskew option, but this will only work with the most...

Thought I loved it...

Michael G., Newegg
7 January 2008
  • Pros: Rather quick scanning, separates pages well, images are clear, good price.
  • Cons: The scanned images are crooked. This is a MAJOR issue for me because I have to go in and straighten out and then crop every image that I scan. I purchased this scanner for high volume scanning and it's become an issue because I am losing ALOT of time by having to edit each individual image. Not t...

Hardware good, software bad.

Plasticsurgeon, Amazon
21 November 2005
  • Summary: I have owned my 2050C for about 3 weeks. Whilst it has integrated quite well into my offices, it did take a 5 hours of frustration, an email to tech support, a 2 day wait for a reply, and a download of the latest CapturePerfect (3.0.30 iirc) to get multipage documents batching to pdf's without a...

Great Product -- Way Too Expensive

ScanMan, Amazon
21 November 2005
  • Summary: I have tracked this product for a long time, including its earlier siblings (a SCSI version, and then a USB/SCSI version, and now a USB only version). The main problem with the product is that Canon has not dropped the price for many years.

EL ESCANER DEL TRABAJO

rocioSERO, Ciao
20 July 2007
  • Cons: MUY CARO, NO ES TAN BUENO COMO PARECE
