Summary: I much prefer my Fujitsu ScanSnap but a certain application used at our office was not compatible and the manufacturer steered us to this Canon which is, but it is very temperamental and I am constantly being prompted to locate it when it goes "missing!' It makes great images, though.
Summary: I use this scanner at work, so take into account that I didn't shell out the money but I do use it on a daily basis. The scanner is terrific when it works properly, but it seems as though the product fails to function properly on a regular basis. Having used this scanner for months, I have yet to have 3 or more documents scan correctly and always require at least two resets to get it to work. At 5 or more documents it doesn't scan the pages in the correct order.
Summary: I was very frustrated when trying to get this scanner to work when I upgraded to Windows 8.1. The customer service email was confusing and I was disgusted. I finally called and connected with a person who was able to tell me exactly what to do. It worked! Thank you Canon for your live people to help! I've had this scanner for 2 1/2 years and I really like it. It is easy to use and I recommend it.
Summary: I am a complete technophobe and technologically challenged as well, and I was able to install and use this immediately. I quickly learned how to make pdf files with it so that I don't have to babysit a fax machine to send lengthy documents. I cannot say enough how easy it is to use this machine. It is small and doesn't take up much room in my very cramped office.
Summary: We use Canon scanners and the CapturePerfect software successfully at work, so I decided to buy the entry level scanner for home use on a Windows 7 machine. I ordered through Amazon -- they were the least expensive, and the scanner arrived quickly. I have been using it all week to scan the contents of my paper files and put them in folders on my computer. I have probably scanned 500-600 documents so far.
Summary: After much research, I decided on this scanner. I have owned it since February 2012 and scanned over 2500 pages in that time. PROS: Very reliable Made in Japan! Quiet operation TWAIN drivers - no proprietary scan software required to operate! Minimal paper jams Small footprint Excellent, sturdy design Easy configuration, works well with Windows 7 64 Replaceable / maintainable rollers FAST, high quality scans CONS: Expensive I have seen several people complain that this...
