Debra B., Newegg
17 September 2008
  • Pros: bought for an office to scan all customer invoices. scanned several hundred thousand lightweight pink forms for 1.4 years. died due to a controller/sensor error. would "JAM" and stop scanning then go ahead and feed the page out. out of warranty so simply bought another - great performance for the...

works great - not for heavy usage

Debra B., Newegg
17 September 2008
  • Pros: just purchased our second unit. our first died after about 1.4 months HEAVY duty scanning. we use it to go paperless with our customer invoices - scanning several hundred thousand pages. our invoices are pink very lightweight tear off sheets but the ADF handles them fine - just have to watch for ...
  • Cons: too bad our first died with controller/sensor error but overall great performance considering how heavily we use it. we switched to using a new version of omnip@ge for much better scanning performance.

Finally a scanner that works

George M., Newegg
13 August 2008
  • Summary: I note that someone else complained about jams with the ADF BUT this is what happens if you connect to a USB 1.x interface because the paper moves too slowly - it really wants the USB 2.0 interface to work right... as specified. I used a low-cost Rosewill add-in USB 2.0 card and it works fine.
  • Pros: This is a great scanner for a workgroup that has low to moderate volume - its quality and speed is good enough that it saves a walk to the copier for quick copies. Set up is flexible and the buttons can be programmed for straight to print or for storage in various file formats.
  • Cons: The OMNIPage software which comes with it is too limited to be much use and keeps nagging to "upgrade" to the full version. The Acrobat works fine though if you make .DOC files, it's a little hit or miss on vertical spacing.

Great Scanner..period

James C., Newegg
27 July 2008
  • Summary: Total workhorse...not industrial grade, but more than sufficient for a small commercial and/or home office. Of the ADF/flatbed scanners available this is the one to buy..and it only costs a few more dollars than its entry-level counterparts
  • Pros: Great price, high-quality, and durable scanner with great software included.
  • Cons: Like any non-industrial grade scanner, can suffer misfeeds/jams, especially when scanning certain media (e.g. thin paper)

Easy to use, good price

Christin K., Newegg
16 July 2008
  • Summary: We bought this to scan in piles of files. The feeder made this job a breeze. The easy to use software made scanning batches of files very easy! I use adobe acrobat extensively with this machine, so may not be so easy for me to use without that application.
  • Pros: Easy to use Feeder, good software, Finally got rid of the fax machine! good customer support.
  • Cons: none, going to buy another!

black background

Philip N., Newegg
12 May 2008
  • Pros: The black background is an awesome feature if you are copying two sided material. With a white background, you often get "bleed through" from the other side. A black background greatly reduces this. I would say that most of the time, a black background completely eliminates "bleed". All other sca...
  • Cons: Could have a lower price.

Great scanner for $$

Phil J., Newegg
13 February 2008
  • Summary: Good doc feed scanner for the money. Max resolution is only 600 dpi, which is fine for documents, but I wouldn't buy it for photos.
  • Pros: First of all, let's remember that this is a $400 scanneI have had few if any jamming problems with the feeder. They have been caused by 1) forgotten staples, 2) too many sheets in the feeder and 3) very bent pages. If you avoid these issues, it works fine. Fairly quick and trouble free. I never g...
  • Cons: Sheet feeder tends to pull documents a little crooked sometimes. Background is black. I'm sure this is for clarity or something, but if you are copying (or scanning) a small item, you'll want to put a blank sheet of paper over it. If not, the entire background is black (and uses a lot of toner to...

Hard To Find Scanner

Gary Parks, Amazon
14 January 2008
  • Summary: I got tired of scanning my wife's multi page documents one sheet at a time, then e-mailing the PDF files to her computer (30 ft. away). Found this Canon flatbed scanner, with 30 Sheet feeder, for her office. It is perfect for our needs. It's FAST! It's easy to use (even SHE has no problems).

Excellant Home Document Scanner

O. W. Higley, Amazon
13 December 2007
  • Summary: The Cannon DR1210C scanner is easy to install and to use productively for small volume scanning such as one generally has in the home. Specific jobs can be created to instantly access the settings preferred for that job and have the folder where one wants the files stored pre-selected.
