Summary: I bought this for 12o back in December 2012. I have a few hundred B&W Negatives and i planned on buying a scanner to digitize them instead of buying a lot of photo paper and the chemicals seeing as i developed them myself.
Summary: Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F - Flatbed scanner - 8.5 in x 11.7 in - 9600 dpi x 9600 dpi - Hi-Speed USB - CANOSCAN LIDE 700 COLOR IMAGE SCANNER Ok as a flat-bed document scanner, absolutely hopeless as a film scanner and as a mounted slide scanner useless.
Summary: This did fine with scanning pictures and documents, but failed 100% with scanning film negatives. I bought this because of the option to scan color negatives. When I attempted to install the color film mechanism, the calibration failed. Canon support was useless - nothing they suggested would work.
Summary: I have the same problem with this scanner, when scanning negatives, as other people do. The scannes just don't come out sharp! The photos I scan have close to the same problem. Just not as sharp as the photo it self. So I can't enlarge any of the pictures to 8x10. So Iam very disappointed.
Summary: I purchased this scanner to scan old family photos. I was very disappointed in the quality of the scanned images. The colors were off and the scanned image was poor in quality. No matter how many settings I changed, the pictures just looked bad.
Summary: I am a faithful Canon user. I love their digital cameras. I have used all kinds of digital scanners, digital video etc. I have set up my own scanning situation with a point and shoot canon and a close up lens that does WAY better scans.
Summary: Looks good and fits neatly on the desk. Except it doesn't scan film, the carriage is too big and the film just falls out. Canon are having scanner driver problems with the new Mac operating system so this model has gone in the bin.
Summary: 13 months old and it failed! Used maybe once a month for thirteen months then it became jammed. The software claimed that the travel lock was engaged. The device was looked after, hardly moved and certainly used with care.
Poor performance with negatives; appalling return service

Summary: I quickly needed a negative scanner so that I could print over 100 5x7" photos for a timeline at my son's funeral, as half his life was pre-digital. The Canon promised more than 3,000 dpi from a negative, but the results were worse than scanning the old 6x4" prints and it took more than 7 minutes...
