Summary: I was interested in this scanner primarily for its ability to be moved easily. It fits easily in a backpack and requires no power cord, instead relying only on a computer. Decent optics and image quality, especially for something its size.
Summary: This scanner replaced an older canoscan that did not have Windows 7 drivers. I am very pleased with the results from this scanner...it is fast, gives excelent scans. Cannon has always had a better scanner than HP.
Summary: I had previously a Visioneer scanner that used USB power, and while it could scan pages acceptably, the software had some hiccoughs and would sometimes lose a multi-page scan. This Canon is an 'industrial strength' replacement, and scans well and relatively quickly with a very nice software interface. I use it for 'ordinary' scanning (OCR on text (ABBYY, good) and music (Neuratron, expensive and flaky...
Summary: I purchased this scanner for small projects around the house such as scanning old photos and such. It has turned into a great buy. We use if for everything from copies to desktop publishing. Can't beat it for the price.
