Great pickup!

Chad W., Newegg
12 June 2007
  • Summary: You can't beat it for this price. I've never written a review on newegg, but I was so impressed I just had to.
  • Pros: Unbelievable performance. I had to scan in all our family photos and ended up running four hundred fifty five scans in about 2 days. It only recalibrated itself twice and worked great! I don't know about the software thing, I've never used it, I just use the TWAIN import feature in Photoshop.
  • Cons: Didn't find it sooner....!

User Review

Andy W., Newegg

  • Pros: It is a fast scanner that provides very good quality. The software is solid and provides some nice features and lots of tweaks. I like the fact the USB2 cable provides power to the unit, it makes for a clean setup. Very nice unit!
  • Cons: None

Great buy

Todd S., Newegg
6 February 2007
  • Pros: Just Works with Linux (tested with Ubuntu and LTSP terminal) Fast scanning for the price (about 10 seconds per page in greyscale) Great greyscale quality. No power cord.
  • Cons: Color quality is good for general use, but I don't think it would be great for photo scanning.

Good Buy

Leonard J., Newegg
11 January 2007
  • Pros: Does what it says. No problems at all. Works with Xandros Linux with no problems.
  • Cons: Haven't figured out advantage of mounting vertically. Thats the stand it comes with. Works vertically or horizontally. Vetically is saves desk space.

Small but multiple issues...

Anonymous, Newegg
3 January 2007
  • Summary: I am using this as a portable document scanner, and it works...but the Mac software is awful and doesn't integrate into the software I need it to. Still, it is decent quality for the price and very compact.
  • Pros: Inexpensive, light and small.
  • Cons: Scanner is quite loud and LED mechanism often illuminates through the other side of the paper. Mac software support is terrible. The programs are not universal binaries and do not integrate with Adobe Acrobat. CanoScan and ScanGear are terrible applications but do get the job done.

Good scanner but not for x64

Anonymous, Newegg
3 January 2007
  • Summary: OK, so not too many people are trying to use Windows x64...but couldn't a company like Canon invest a couple of programmers' time for a week or two to develop the drivers?
  • Pros: Scans well, small footprint.
  • Cons: Confusing software, hard-to-read labeled buttons on front, won't work with Windows x64.

Good basic scanner

Anonymous, Newegg
2 January 2007
  • Pros: The scanner takes up little space, has decent software and uses the USB for power so there is little clutter. This scanner performs quite well for its price. There are better scanners but you will pay more.
  • Cons: None at this point.

I love it

William C., Newegg
28 November 2006
  • Summary: We use PaperPort in the office to hold everything, and I bought this mostly for document scanning into PaperPort. Perfect for the job.
  • Pros: Portable, only needs the USB connection, no separarte power adapter (fantastic). Perfect for what I needed it for.
  • Cons: None really, for what it is. Of course you won't get the best color scans, but it does fine for general use.
